CHEMICAL KINETICS

Integrated Rate Equation

The expression which relates the rate of a reaction to the concentration of the reactants is
called differential rate equation. It can be integrated to obtain the more covenient form
known as integrated rate equation.

Zero Order Reaction

First Order Reaction
Rate constant of first order reaction in gas phase
Pseudo First Order Reaction

Reactions which appear to be of higher order but actually follow first order kinetics are
called pseudo first order reactions.
When one reactant is present in large excess, its concentration remains constant through
out the reaction. In this case, reaction behaves as first order reaction. Following reaction is
an example of pseudo first order reaction.
Reactants Activated complex

(Most probable kinetic energy is the energy possessed by the
maximum number of reactant molecules at a temperature T)
