DAY 1

LONG RUN:
1- If I open a small business, I would probably not regret it in the
long run.
2- Doing my own car maintenance, would probably save me tons
of money in the long run!
3- Buying a house is a great investment, you will notice that in the
long run.
Kill two birds with one stone:
1- By doing my own car maintenance, I would kill two birds with
one stone. Not only will it be cheaper, but I wont be scammed
by mechanics.
2- By buying an electric vehicle, I would kill two birds with one
stone. Not only will it’s price be tax free, it would also not have
any emissions which negatively affect the environment.
Ecstatic:
1- I was ecstatic when I purchased my first car.
2- I was ecstatic on my first day of university.
3- I was ecstatic as I was heading to watch the world cup final
game.
On Cloud 9:
1- The kids were on cloud nine as they were heading to the
amusement park.
2- The kids were on cloud nine as they were building a snow man.
3- I was on cloud nine as I was going to pick up the car from the
dealership.
Sell like hot cakes:
1- Flags and scarfs were selling like hot cakes during the world cup
tournament.

1- When I saw my friends kitten it rang a bell in my head, as it was
extremely similar to the kitten I had.

Ample (enough):
1- I had ample time to study for the exam, yet I was careless.
2- I had ample capital to start a business; however, I did not take
the risk.
3- The stadium at which the world cup was taking place had
ample parking.
Vivid (clear):
1- The memories of the road trip from 10 years ago are vivid.
2- The steps for an oil change are vivid, even though the last time I
did an oil change was a year ago.
3- The man gave a vivid description of the accident he was
involved in.
Amateur:
1- I normally select the amateur hardness when playing FIFA
games.
2- You are still an amateur footballer. However, if you keep up
the hard work, one day you will become professional.
3- You are just an amateur, you need to listen to the more
experienced in life.

DAY 2
Have a lot on my plate:
1- I wish I could come and help you, but I have a lot on my plate.
2- During college I would barley have enough time to sleep
because I had a lot on my plate.
3- I often help my mom with the house duties since she has a lot
on her plate.
Pease of Mind:
1- I always like purchasing Costco products, their 90 day return
policy, just gives me a peace of mind.
2- Getting a car from a dealership gives you a peace of mind.
3- Living in the countryside gives me a peace of mind.
Drastic:
1- Qatar has drastically improved since my last visit four years
ago.
2- The 2022 world cup has seen drastic improves in terms of
technology.
3- Our car has drastically improved after a full maintenance at the
shop for two weeks.
Stint:
1- I would like to book a vacation for a stint of three weeks.
2- My uncle served in the army for a stint of 10 years.
3- I lived in Canada for a stint of 4 years.
Come in handy:
1- The car manual came in handy when I was trying to solve the
gear issue.
2- Tiktok always comes in handy when I try to cook something
new.
3- Public transportation always comes in handy during snow
storms.
Back to back:
1- I had two back-to-back exams on Monday.
2- I have two back-to-back shifts on Saturdays.
3- On Mondays, I always have three back-to-back lectures.
Go the extra mile:
1- To achieve being on the deans honour list, you need to go the
extra mile.
2- Our Dynamics of Machinery Professor always goes the extra
mile to make sure we absolutely understand everything.
3- When our Thermodynamics professor went the extra mile, the
marks drastically improved.
Against the clock:
1- I am working against the clock to make sure I get in shape
before the summer.
2- On weekends, I would always be working against the clock to
finish my studies before my work shift starts.
3- My colleagues and I were working against the clock to build our
project and demonstrate it within 24 hours.
Money does not grow on trees:
1- I have always been told as a kid that money does not grow on
trees.
2- People who always buy luxurious items might think that money
grows on trees.
3- Kids who want to buy something new on a daily need to
understand that money does not grow on trees.
Get out of hand:
1- Things normally get out of hand at the restaurant when it starts
getting busy.
2- If they keep arguing things might get out of hand.
3- When all the seniors decided not to go to class the supervisors
were not able to do anything since the situation got out of
hand.

DAY 3
Not my cup of tea:
1- Movies are just not my cup of tea.
2- Staying indoors is not my cup of tea.
3- Sugary drinks are not my cup of tea.
Piece of cake:
1- Personally for me, cooking food is a piece of cake.
2- Football is a piece of cake.
3- Turns out cutting hair is a piece of cake after I shaved my hair a
few times.

Between a rock and a hard place or in a dilemma:


1- I’m between a rock and a hard place, my boss called me in for a
shift, but I have already promised my friends to meet tonight.
2- I’m in a dilemma, I have 2 assignments that have the same due
date.

work while I just entered the mall for shopping.
Vibe:
1- The vibes during the world cup were amazing.

1- I felt dejected after the insurance company informed me that
my car will be totalled.
2- I was feeling dejected during a snowstorm that lasted 6 days
straight.

On the pricey side:
1- Apple products are on the pricey side, however; I still buy them
because they give me a peace of mind.
2- The restaurant has a fancy vibe; however, it is on the pricey

1- My grandfather quit smoking for the sake of his health.
2- I must take the CELPIP exam, for the sake of my IRCC

DAY 4:

1- I know this a contentious issue, but my belief is that…

Gruelling (something extremely difficult):


1- Studying abroad was more gruelling than I expected.
2- Some electrical courses were gruelling. I used to get anxious
when I ever I took the course.
Time will tell:
1- Time will tell if it is a reliable car or not.
2- I guess the new law should not have been implemented. Only
time will tell.
