Instruction: Study the newly posted materials in the MS teams, then answer the following:

1. With all the skills mentioned, critical and problem solving, communication, collaboration,
creativity, and innovation; about the information, media and technology skills and others, what
do they mean with regards to the following: (5 points each)
a. LEARNING ENVIROMENTS
- In the 21st century the learning environment has benefits to student’s it increases the
attention and focus, promotes meaningful learning experiences, encourages higher
levels of student’s performance, and motivates students to practice higher-level critical
thinking skills. The student-centered approach to teaching that helps create an
engaged learning environment through active learning and using class time for inquiry,
application, and assessment to best meet the needs of individual learners.

b. STANDARDS in education
- The standards are design to connect to the real world, reflecting knowledge and skills
to become successful soon. In the 21st century the standard in education it focuses on
21st century skills, engages students with the real-world data, tools, and experts they
will encounter in college, on the job, and in life, so that students will be prepared with
the necessary knowledge and life skills that will help them be successful in their future
careers.

c. ASSESSMENT
- The 21st century assessment give students new roles in the assessment process that
can make assessment itself a learning experience and deepen student engagement in
content. Assessment has highly-quality standardized testing along with effective
formative and summative classroom assessments. Formative and summative
assessment measures the student’s mastery of 21st century skills. Assessment also
measures the system of effectiveness to reach high levels of student’s competency.

d. CURRICULUM and INSTRUCTION


- The curriculum and instruction focus on providing opportunities for applying 21st
century skills across content areas and for a competency-based approach to learning.
The curriculum should be designed to be interdisciplinary, integrated and project-
based to enhance the use of thinking and various types of reasoning of the students.
The 21st century curriculum also integrate the use of ICT, and Inquiry- and problem-
based approaches a higher order thinking skill.

e. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENTS of teachers


- Professional developments it helps teachers to develop their abilities to use various
strategies (such as formative assessments) to reach diverse students and create
environments that supports differentiated teaching and learning. Professional
development in the 21st century is important to the growth and development of the
contemporary educator. Today’s educational realms is full of multiple perspectives,
technologies, and opportunities for students and educational leaders.
2. What do they mean to the pre-service teachers? (5pts)
- Pre-service or practice teaching is one of the important components necessary to
become a teacher. It gives different experiences to practice teachers in the real
classroom practices which include teaching and learning. This is also a preparation to
expose them to the real- world aspect of the teaching profession and to assist them
put into practice the theoretical knowledge acquired during their college years. This
program represents varied experiences to which preservice teachers are exposed
when they work in classrooms and schools. This is regarded as one of the difficult but
most essential phases in teacher training. Further, this program is intended to supply
actual, contextual experiences which student teachers are exposed to and the
complexities and richness of the actuality of being a teacher. In terms of teacher
preparedness, many institutions of higher education that provide teacher training
programs are faced with the task of making sure that graduates are prepared to teach
students in grades K-12. Moreover, in career preparedness, it is clearly stated that pre-
service teachers in any teacher education programs are about to begin their career in
difficult academic environment. At the same time, many intellectual arguments on
college and career readiness may focus on school-wide systems or on the abilities
individual students need for success.

3. What do the schools need to do? (10pts)


- Twenty-first century skills prepare students to enter the workforce or higher education
with the ability to think critically and creativity, collaborate with others, and used ICT.
Pre-service teachers are now expected to encourage their students to engage in
thoughtful reflection, critical thinking and increased self-awareness and responsibility.
The pre-service teacher is expected to play an active role in developing and organizing
content and instruction for their students. The school must teach the standards and
importance of the pre-service teacher so that they can communicate and collaborate
with their students. The school must give the opportunity to enhance the knowledge
and skills of the pre-service teachers that can help them for a better teaching in the
field.
