Elijah obeyed God's instructions to come out from hiding, go back to Israel, and anoint Elisha

as his prophetic successor. Since he was once again carrying out the Lord's work, Elijah no
longer felt fearful. Indeed, God was patient and forgiving toward him. Elisha diligently stood
by his side up until the moment when God parted the Jordan and then took Elijah in a chariot
of fire. The prophet went from being a weary and disheartened man who wished to die to
becoming one of God's most significant prophets. What a wonderful God we serve! We have
endless reasons to worship, praise, and glorify Him.
