Spell Fumble Chart (5e)
D100 Effect
01-19 Distracted: Trip, roll DEX (DC12) or
fall
20-29 You grow a long beard made of
feathers that remains until you
sneeze, at which point the feathers
explode out from your face
30-39 You are surrounded by faint,
ethereal music for the next minute
40-49 Cast faerie fire centered on
yourself
50-59 Your skin turns a vibrant shade of
blue. A remove curse spell can end
this effect.
60-65 For the next minute all spells with
a 1 action casting time also use up
your standard movement.
66-71 You Teleport 60 ft in a random
direction into an unoccupied spot
72-75 You are transported to the astral
plane until the end of your next
turn, after which you return to the
space previously occupied or the
nearest unoccupied space if that
space is occupied.
76-79 You can’t speak for the next
minute. Whenever you try, pink
bubbles float out of your mouth.
80-81 You completely miss but damn did
you look fabulous.
82-83 You turn into a potted plant until
the start of your next turn. While a
plant, you are incapacitated and
have vulnerability to all damage. If
you drop to 0 hit points, your pot
breaks, and your form reverts.
D100 Effect
84-85 Your hair falls out, but grows back
in 24 hours.
86-87 Your next spell does minimum
damage
88-89 You are immune to being
intoxicates by alcohol for the next
5d6 days
90 A unicorn controlled by the DM
appears in a space within 5 feet of
you, then disappears 1 minute
later
91 Divine intervention: Someone’s
god doesn’t like you and randomly
redirects the spell’s effect.
92 For the next minute you must
shout when you speak
93 Reversal: any spell directed at an
enemy creature is cast on you and
any spell directed at an ally is cast
on a random enemy creature
94 A random creature becomes
invisible for the next minute.
Casting a spell or attacking ends
the invisibility
95 Hands ache from spell. Go last
next round.
96 One equipped item is now a
pineapple. Make your spell DC
save to will it back into its original
form or wait 1 minute.
97 Your size decreases by one
category for the next minute.
98 You and all creatures within 15 feet
gain vulnerability to piercing
damage for the next minute.
99 Instant regret: you cast fireball at
3rd level centered on yourself
