In a collaborative effort, our team has each taken the challenge in revamping the three sites individually, namely

the
ulu pandan canal, one north park, and rail corridor and came up with a final output, in which the design draws
inspiration from the existing connection issues within the district, which are currently divided by the infrastructure.
The major issues identified in the previous analysis were the inconvenience that users face when traversing through
the district, they are frequently exposed to the harsh roads and often have to take extra detours getting from one
point to another for their daily needs. So, our masterplan is reimagined to tackle disassociated parcels and enhance
the connectivity while creating rich landscapes for a new user experience. New walking and cycling paths are
proposed that greatly ties with one another, for instance the path connects from the existing one north park and
extended to the rail corridor. Elevated decks are also proposed for the ease of movements, bringing users above
roads and eventually to the MRT. Most importantly, we have also proposed an underground hub to be the main
connection point where movements can come from all directions with a smooth transition, like coming from the
canal utilizing the underground pass, railway corridor, Ghim Moh, and Holland Village.

The proposed underground hub will be the main catalyst for strengthening the development’s connection and
accessibility. It is 7m below the commonwealth ave junction road, which can accommodate for multipurpose spaces
like market square and also opportunity for communities to hold events etc. This hub will ease the pedestrian
movements coming from all directions with the provision of cycling and walking paths from the canal, holland
village and the railway corridor.

Starting off with the individual proposal for rail corridor. The corridor is about 5m below ground level that sits in
between office developments like the existing metropolis towers, the newly proposed BioVitsa, and residentials like
Holland Village at the neighboring context. Currently the pedestrian’s movements are disrupted by the harsh road
infrastructure, with only overhead bridge as the main connection linkage. As for the rail corridor landscape, there is
a 3m increase in topo level at the linear greenway path, where biovista sits, which will be taken into consideration
during the design stage.
