SMT To SCMP Transition
TO THE SCMP DESIGNATION PROGRAM:
1) Completion of the pre‐requisite admissions requirements (see below)*
2) Optional exemption ‐ Three 1‐day on‐line courses: http://scma.com/en/education‐
accreditation/supply‐management‐training/advanced‐standing‐and‐exemption. The completion
of these courses provides closure in the content gap for several key concepts between the
SMT education and the SCMP program. This allows for exemption of module 1, Supply Chain
Management and module 3, Logistics & Transportation in the SCMP designation program
3) Individuals would also receive exemption for the Soft Skill workshops that you completed in the
SMT program in the SCMP designation program
*Admissions Requirements:
If you have a business management degree or diploma from a recognized Canadian University, college,
or technical institute, completed within 5 years of SCMP program application you will need to attach
your original/verifiable transcripts as supporting documentation along with your application subject to
review and acceptance by SCMABC.

Economics
Marketing
Organizational Behaviour
Courses must be credit courses or CE management studies chosen from a regular program offered
by an accredited post‐secondary institution in Canada recognized by SCMABC, i.e. BCIT, SFU,
Douglas College.
Only full semester length courses are accepted.
Courses taken at trade or vocational schools or private colleges are not eligible.
This transition option with the exemptions available is only valid for 5 years’ from completion of the
SMT. After that no exemptions are eligible and the SCMP designation program must be completed in
full.
