Strict remanufacturing processes
Final Drive Groups
Cat Reman Final Drive Groups come fully
assembled and ready to install. During the
remanufacturing process:
• planet gears are magnaflux tested
for cracks.
• bearings, seals, gaskets, and O-rings are
replaced with new Cat parts.
• damaged splines, keyways, threads, and
other wear surfaces are restored to new-part
specifications.
• planetary shafts, bearing cups, and bushings
are frozen and pressed into place.
• final drives are 100% tested to factory
specifications.
Final Drive Hubs and Housings
Cat Reman Final Drive Hubs and Housings are
available for most Cat machines and are priced
at 50–65% of the cost of new parts. During
the remanufacturing process:
• cores are dye-checked for cracks.
• splines are removed and worn surfaces are
built up using submerged arc welding
or laser cladding.
• surfaces are machined to new dimensions
and tested with a mating gauge.

Cat Reman Final Drives are priced at a fraction
of the cost of new parts and offer same-as-new
performance. To prove it, Caterpillar backs
Reman Final Drives with a same-as-new
parts warranty.
In addition, you can earn credit toward Cat
Reman Final Drives by exchanging used Cat
Final Drive components (cores). To receive
full credit on Cat Final Drives, the core must
meet the following criteria.
• The sprocket (or wheel), hub, carrier,
or spindle must not be visibly cracked
or broken.
• Gears must not be visibly broken with
the cover plate removed.
• Track-type tractor final drives must
“bar over” one full revolution.
• Final drives must be complete and fully
assembled.
We issue full credit on Cat Final Drive Hubs
and Housings as long as the core is not visibly
cracked or broken. Our two-level pricing
system ensures that even damaged cores can
earn a partial core refund.
