Course This course covers the life and works of the Philippine national hero Dr. Jose Rizal as mandated by Republic Act
Description 1425. Topics covered are Rizal’s biography and writings particularly the novels Noli Me Tangere and El
Filibusterismo, some of his essays and various correspondences.

At the end of the course, students should be able to:

Course 1. Discuss Jose Rizal’s life within the context of 19th century Philippines.
Outcomes 2. Analyze Rizal’s various works, particularly the novels Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo.
3. Organize Rizal’s ideas into various themes.
4. Critique of primary resources about Rizal and his works.
5. Interpret the values that can be derived from studying Rizal’s life and works.
6. Display an appreciation for education and love of country

To maintain and assure that proper etiquette and discipline is still observed even in flexible learning the following rules and
guidelines is advised.
1. Always show respect to your instructors/ professors by addressing them as Ma’am or Sir and even to
your classmates by their surnames or given name.
2. Give your attention to what is being discussed or said by your instructors/ professors especially during
synchronous session.

3. During synchronous session students should wear less revealing clothes and always observe proper decorum.
4. Unnecessary posting, tagging and commenting on subject’s FB pages should be avoided especially if it wasn’t
related to the topic being discussed.
5. Online quarrels and misunderstanding within the classes should not be tolerated and corresponding disciplinary
action should follow.
6. FB pages and group chats are exclusively for those students who are taking the subject; outsiders should not be
accepted in these private sites.
