PRESENTING COMPLAINTS:
● Anger Issues

● Restlessness

● Unable to follow instructions.

● Age-inappropriate speech.

BEHAVIOURAL OBSERVATION:
The child appeared to be well kempt and tidy and maintained eye contact. Rapport was
established with difficulty. He was non-cooperative throughout the assessment. His attention
was aroused but not sustained. His psychomotor activity was restless and hyperactive. His
speech was audible with delayed reaction time. General intelligence appeared to be below
average. Orientation about time, situation, place, and person were present partially (prompt
needed). self injurious behaviour like hitting his head on the wall 2-3 times and biting his hand
were also observed. His social and personal judgment could not be elicited.

TEST ADMINISTERED:
● Developmental Screening Test (DST)

● Vineland Social Maturity Scale (VSMS)

● Childhood Autism Rating Scale(CARS)

TEST FINDINGS:

1. Developmental Screening Test (DST)

The developmental age of the child was found to be 3 years 9 months. The
developmental quotient (DQ) was found to be 38 (DQ =38). His intelligence quotient
(IQ) inferred from DQ was38 (IQ = 38). This indicates that his current intellectual
functioning is under the category of moderate mental retardation. This suggests 75%
impairment in intellectual functioning.

2. Vineland Social Maturity Scale (VSMS)

Social age of the child i.e., SA is obtained to be 3 years 11 months and with a corresponding
Social Quotient (SQ) is found to be 40 which suggesting his current level of social adaptive
functioning to be moderately impaired.

3. Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS)

Test findings reveal that the obtained score of the index child is- 35 which indicates mild to
moderate level of autism.

IMPRESSION
Case history, behavioral observation and psychological test findings reveal the child’s current
intellectual functioning(IQ=38) falls under the moderate category of mental retardation,
indicative of 75% impairment and deficit in several social adaptive functioning. Along with
it finding also suggest Mild to Moderate level of autism.

SUGGESTION
Speech and language therapy is suggested. Special education is also recommended for
helping him with self-help skills and enhancement of cognitive ability.
