INTRODUCING POWER SUPPLIES:

Power is the backbone of any electronic system and the power supply is what feeds the system.
Choosing the right supply can be the critical difference between a device working at optimum levels and
one that may deliver inconsistent results.

In addition to alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC) power supplies, DC to DC converters are
also available. If DC is already available in your system, a DC to DC converter may be the better design
choice than AC discussed below.

Direct current power supplies are either unregulated or regulated. Regulated supplies come in several
options including linear, switched and battery-based.

function generator:
A function generator is a specific form of signal generator that is able to
generate waveforms with common shapes.Unlike RF generators and some others that only create sine
waves, the function generator is able to create repetitive waveforms with a number of common shapes.

Typical function generator form of signal generator

In particular it can be made to become a sine wave generator, square wave generator, and triangular
wave generator. Also a function generator may be able to vary the characteristics of the waveforms,
changing the length of the pulse, i.e. the mark space ratio, or the ramps of the different edges of
triangular or sawtooth waveforms. The function generator is only be able to create the waveforms that
are built in to the function generator. It cannot be programmed to create additional waveforms - an
arbitrary waveform generator, AWG is required for this.
Multimeter:
A multimeter is a measuring instrument that can measure multiple electrical properties. A typical
multimeter can measure voltage, resistance, and current, in which case it is also known as a volt-ohm-
milliammeter (VOM), as the unit is equipped with voltmeter, ammeter, and ohmmeter functionality, or
volt-ohmmeter for short. Some feature the measurement of additional properties such as temperature
and capacitance.

Analog multimeters use a microammeter with a moving pointer to display readings. Digital multimeters
(DMM, DVOM) have numeric displays and have made analog multimeters virtually obsolete as they are
cheaper, more precise, and more physically robust than analog multimeters.
