BFC 3I802 PROJECT – INSTRUCTION

Description:

Distresses such as permanent deformation, fatigue cracking and moisture failure can be
encountered on the pavements due to environment condition and the most important is traffic
loading. Other than that, these stresses increase in poor materials; under inadequate control; with
traffic as well as with water which are key elements in the degradation of asphalt concrete
pavements.

Therefore, in this project, your group will have to select any 1 km of any road in Malaysia and
carry out a study to determine its level of distress. At least FIVE (5) types of distress are selected.

Your study should include the following:

1. Justify criteria of the selected road.

2. Perform Pavement Condition Index (PCI) Test
3. Recommend a maintenance or rehabilitation method shall be needed to improve the PCI.

 Your group will need to produce a technical report and present your findings via video
presentation

 The report must contain; Introduction, literature review on PCI, objectives of the task,
methodology, data analysis, discussion on the result, discussion on maintenance or
rehabilitation method shall be needed to improve the PCI and conclusion, references and
appendixes of RAW DATA.
