VALVE MATERIAL REVIEW, ORDERING AND INSPECTION -SOP#001

1 Scope

The purpose of this SOP is to ensure the material review, ordering and inspection in lieu of standards
and specifications.

2 References

API 602 Compact Steel Gate Valves -Flanged,threaded,welding and Extended Body -Ends
API 600 Steel gate valves – Flanged and Butt welding ends, Bolted bonnets

3 Procedure

3.1 Ordering
Once the job is awarded from client and proceeded for valve ordering, following steps and templates
shall be followed

Step 1: Based on RFQ,Valve data sheet to be received from the supplier/dealer as per approved vendor
list.

Step 2: Specification compliance against the received data sheet from the supplier/dealer and the client
specification to be generated as per below format

Material specification As per API 600 or Vendor Offer Remarks

API 602

Testing standards
Pressure test as
per API 598
Fire test
certificate, if any
External

Internal painting,

Step 3: if the above table is complied, then proceed for material submittal to client

Step 4: If the above table is not complied, proceed for alternative vendor to suit client specification

Step 5: If the valve compliance is not meeting from any of the vendor/supplier, Technical query shall be
raised to client for the proposal. (TQ form available with QC dept.)

Step 6: Once Material submittal is approved by client,procced for LPO and ordering.

Step 7: Stage wise production progress shall be weekly monitored w.r.t to Manufacturer inspection and
test plan

3.2 Inspection

Once the valve is received for inspection, following steps shall be followed

Step 1: Match the material certificate received as per specification compliance

Step 2: If step 1 is ok, proceed for Material receiving inspection.

Step 3: If step 1 is not ok, investigate the root cause and corrective action and notify to client.

Note: During material review, client specification overrule codes and standards.
