1 - INTRODUCTION
Dear Customer,
through the relevant experience gained, this manual was prepared for the purpose of assisting the
user in the correct use of the machine during each stage of its service life.
The manual must be kept in a secure location on the machine and be accessible to all personnel who
need to consult it.
Only personnel who have read, learned and understood the instructions contained in this Manual may
use the machine and, under NO circumstances, may the machine be used by unqualified personnel.
Also note, the instructions in the manual cannot in any way replace the training of
personnel, especially where particularly delicate operations are concerned.
If the Manual is lost or illegible, the user is recommended to request a new copy from the manufacturer.
The manual must always be kept with the machine in the event it is resold,
leased or upon termination of the lease.

THE OPERATOR MANUAL MUST BE READ IN ITS ENTIRETY. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY


RESULT IN THE OPERATOR NOT RECOGNISING HAZARDOUS SITUATIONS,
RESULTING IN INJURY TO THEMSELVES AND OTHERS.

Intended users of the manual


The persons for whom this manual has been prepared include:

Material handlers
The handlers must be able to arrange the product in designated packaging (where applicable) and
verify the correct position in relation to the packaging itself, ensuring that the package is closed
correctly.
If necessary, the handlers must carry out the unpacking operations in accordance with the instructions
provided in the use and maintenance manual and/or indicated on the packaging. The operations
indicated above must be carried out exclusively with the help of lifting devices in safe conditions for all
persons present, the product and the environment.

Hauliers
Hauliers must be able to place the product (packaged where applicable) onto a haulage vehicle with
the help of lifting and restraining devices, position it suitably, transport the product to its destination
and unload it from the vehicle, repeating the operations indicated above for loading but in the reverse
order. They must also ensure that these operations are carried out in safe conditions for all persons
present, the product and the environment.

Installers
Installers are to position and install the product, following the direct or implicit instructions of the
purchaser and with the collaboration of the dealer, in safe operating conditions for all persons present,
the product and the environment, providing the user with the basic instructions for use and
maintenance to ensure operations are carried out safely.

Maintenance technicians
These technicians must carry out normal checks, verifications, adjustments and, where necessary,
small repairs, according to the maintenance plan established by the manufacturer and in safe
conditions for all persons present, the product and the environment.

Repairers
Repair technicians are to carry out troubleshooting activities on the faulty product, using where
necessary the information provided by the user, namely information regarding the faults themselves.
These technicians will carry out the necessary repairs, replacements and adjustments in order to return
the product to its correct operation capabilities and in safe conditions for all persons present, the
product and the environment.

Demolition technicians
Demolition technicians must be able to recognise when product demolition is suitable. They will
disassemble all the parts that make up the product, selecting any re-usable material, eliminating any
parts that cannot be reused safely and in accordance with environmental requirements and recycling
the others.

Users
Users must be able to operate the product in safe conditions for all persons present, the product and
the environment, interpret basic troubleshooting and faulty operating conditions and carry out simple
adjustments, verifications and maintenance

The use and maintenance manual is an integral part of the machine: it must be kept intact and
in a safe place for the entire service life of the machine, even if the machine is transferred to
another user.

The machine must be used in accordance with what is specified in this manual: it is therefore
recommended to read the manual with care before it is put into service, without overlooking anything
which is written and giving particular attention to the messages in the boxes.

This manual has been prepared with reference to the provisions dictated by the Machinery Directive
2006/42/EC and subsequent amendments, with the aim of providing the user with a general overview
of the machine and the necessary information to ensure:
• The correct understanding of the operators in terms of SAFETY
• The intended use of the machine, the user specifications and the residual risks present.
• The movement, installation, use and maintenance of the machine in safe conditions.
• Demolition and disposal of the machine safely and in full accordance with legal requirements
in terms of the environment and health and safety in the workplace.

Observance of the standards and recommendations provided in the manual will allow the product to
be used safely and ensure that suitable interventions are carried out.

4 - AN INTRODUCTION TO SAFETY

During the design and construction of the machine, the criteria and measures necessary to meet the
safety requirements were fully observed.
In particular, during the design and construction phases, suitable measures have been adopted to
prevent risks for operators during the installation, use, maintenance and dismantling and demolition of
the machine.
Careful risk analysis carried out within the company has allowed us to eliminate most of the risks
related to the conditions of use of the machine, both foreseen and reasonably foreseeable. For those
risks that cannot be eliminated we have adopted specific protections. The residual risks due to the
incomplete effectiveness of the measures adopted are reported in this manual.
The machine and all its components have been designed so as not to allow improper use even by less
experienced personnel if this could lead to additional risks. Our machine is designed in such a way
that in the conditions of intended use, the operator's discomfort, physical fatigue and psychological
stress are reduced to a minimum, observing all ergonomic criteria reasonably applicable to this type
of machine.

on the machine in any way.

For correct and therefore safe use of the machine, strictly follow the instructions and
recommendations contained in this manual and the safety regulations in force in the country
where the machine is installed.

provided, such as: gloves, protective glasses, safety shoes with steel toecap and overalls.

4.1 - OVERALL ASPECTS OF OPERATOR SAFETY

Observance of the standards and recommendations provided will allow the product to be used safely
and ensure that suitable interventions are carried out.
1) Best machine performance and the maximum service life of the machines will be achieved when
the machine is used correctly. It is therefore necessary that the indications provided in this manual are
strictly observed;
2) Any requests for replacement parts must be accompanied by the model type and serial number
provided in the list of replacement parts or applied to the nameplate of the components themselves.
3) Installation of the machine must be carried out in full compliance with current safety regulations in
force;
4) Do not remove or tamper with protections and /or safety devices and regularly check that they are
working correctly.
5) Strictly observe the warnings present on the hazard signs and ensure that these are always legible;
6) Machine use and maintenance must be assigned to specialised personnel, trained and qualified for
the relevant tasks. The intervention procedures and the responsibility of the operators must be clearly
defined to ensure appropriate and safe use and maintenance;
7) Before each and every maintenance or adjustment intervention, all the power supplies (electrical,
pneumatic, hydraulic, etc.) must be disconnected ensuring that they cannot be reconnected
unintentionally.
8) Maintenance of the machine carried out in a manner that does not comply with the instructions
provided, with non-original replacement parts or without written authorisation from the manufacturer,
or in any case in such a way as to compromise its integrity or modify its characteristics, will relieve
Konia S.r.l. of all and any liability concerning the safety of persons and the faulty operation of the
machine.
The user undertakes to observe the periodic maintenance requirements as indicated in chapter 16;
The user undertakes to ensure that the qualifications of the assigned personnel will be observed:

OPERATOR: carries out the tasks necessary for the basic operation of the machine namely, execution
of the work cycle, implementation of the operator controls, loading and unloading of the material to be
processed, format change operations, other interventions strictly related to normal production, possible
cleaning and daily inspection. The operator must work only when the safety protections are enabled.

MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN: this technician can intervene in all operating


conditions and at all protection levels. The mechanical maintenance technician carries out all
mechanical repairs / adjustments. This technician does not act on the live electrical system.

ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN: this technician can intervene in all operating conditions
and at all protection levels. The electrical maintenance technician carries out all repairs / adjustments
of the electrical system.

Ordinary operation assigned to the operator:

 Load the metal mesh onto the machine, the dies and inserts and begin machining;
 Carry out the work cycle;
 Unload the metal mesh from the machine;
 Cleaning the machine.

Extraordinary operations assigned to the maintenance technicians:

 Check wear of equipment;


 Preventive maintenance upon expiry. This also includes replacing parts where
necessary;
 Repairs;
 Adjustments;
 Check oil levels in the control units and top-up where necessary;
 Interventions on the electrical system;
 Interventions on the hydraulic system;

4.2 - SAFETY SIGNAGE

It is essential that meaning of the safety signage can be clearly recognised and that the warning
message always remains legible. If the condition of the signs deteriorates, they must be replaced
immediately before the machine is used again.

The colours of the safety signage used in this manual has been defined in accordance with the
indications provided in Standard UNI 7543-1: DECEMBER 2004

Principles for the colours


Generally colours on the flooring, walls, structures, machinery and property is created:
using strips which delimit certain areas;
by colouring areas or restricted parts provided they have a geometric outline which differs from
that of the safety signals;
by colouring, partially or fully, the machine structures and objects;
be alternating bands of the safety colour with bands of the corresponding contrast colour.

Examples of use of the safety colours and the contrast colours


The combination indicated in figure 1 of the yellow safety colour and the black contrast colour can
be used to indicate hazardous points such as:
areas where there is the risk of being knocked, falling or tripping or of suspended objects being
dropped;
steps, potholes, obstacles, columns etc.

4.3 - PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT (PPE)


Pursuant to the specific Directive 89/686/EEC and subsequent amendments and additions, the
acronym “PPE" refers to any device or article intended to be worn or held by a person to ensure
protection against one or more risks which could jeopardise health and safety. All PPE must be
compliant with the indications provided in the relevant Directive.

Selecting the PPE


The manual indicates the PPE which must be used and worn by personnel assigned to the
machine.
The obligation to use/wear this PPE is highlighted by the specific pictograms. Some examples are
provided below.

The employer must identify and provide the correct PPE on the basis of the
specific risks present.

The example shown is in relation to the choice of gloves, in accordance with the indications
provided in Annex C to Standard EN 420: 2004 - Protective gloves General requirements and test

Users are reminded to always check the correct protection class of the PPE.
Obligations of the Employer

It should be remembered that in Italy the employer must nevertheless implement the provisions of
Title IV of Italian Legislative Decree 626/1994 and subsequent amendments and additions.
In other European countries the employer must comply with the legislation in force in the country
where the company operates.

Informative note of PPE

Users are reminded to read the Informative Note which accompanies the PPE.

The Informative Note must contain information on the duration and storage expiry of the PPE.
With regards to the interpretation of the duration, please find below the specific part from Standard
UNI 10913: APRIL 2001 - Personal Protection Equipment Guidelines for the preparation of the
informative note.
Duration (mandatory)
The duration of possible use must be provided (for example, the maximum number of wash cycles
which once exceeded, implies that the PPE in question will have lost its characteristics).
Please note: if this indication is not provided in the Informative Note, the PPE is deemed not subject
to any limitations in terms of duration apart from normal wear determined by the conditions of use.
3.17 Storage expiry (mandatory)
If the PPE is subject to ageing, a storage expiry term must be provided (month and year at least).

It is recommended that there is a register of the PPE given to the employees, an example of which
is provided below.

The machine is to be used EXCLUSIVELY for the intended use as indicated below

The machine has been designed and manufactured for deep drawing and welding metal inserts
on woven wire cloth.
ONLY ONE OPERATOR is required to operate the machine. The manufacturer declines all
responsibility and all warranties are void if the machine is used for any other purpose than that
which is described above.

Specifically, intended uses refer only to those for which the machine is to be used:

• Following the procedures described in this manual;
• With the electrical and pneumatic power supply values listed in this manual;
• In suitable environmental conditions as described in this manual;
• In observance of the hazard warnings contained in this manual;
• By qualified personnel;
• In observance of both the ordinary and extraordinary maintenance procedures described
in this manual.

• Processing of labels made of materials other than those shown in this manual
• The use of additional components or equipment to those indicated in this manual.
• Use of the machine in environmental conditions which differ from those specified.

4.7 - OBLIGATIONS OF THE OWNER OF THE COMPANY WHERE THE MACHINE IS


INSTALLED

The owner of the company where the machine is installed must undertake to train the operator(s)
assigned to the machine as well as the maintenance operator(s) assigned to checking and
maintenance procedures as well as those assigned to repair interventions.

!! Danger !!
The operator's task is only that of using the machine to perform what it was designed for.
The machine must never be used to perform operations other than those described in
this manual.

IT IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED TO:


 Remove the safety devices on the machine or operate the machine without the
safety devices present and enabled.
 Tamper with or remove the micro safety switches.
 Tamper with any of the calibration settings (electrical, pneumatic or mechanical).
 Continue working while the machine is undergoing repairs or maintenance.
 Operate the machine without wearing/using the relevant PPE (gloves, work
clothing, safety shoes).

 Climb onto the machine.


 Use any generic type of tool to modify the machine movements, even with the
help of others.

THE OPERATOR MUST TAKE NOTE OF THE FOLLOWING:

✓ Warning signs, explaining in detail the meaning and the consequences resulting
from failure to comply with them.
✓ All the safety regulations, the warnings, the suggestions and the advice
contained in this manual, explaining the meaning to the operator in detail (if
applicable).
✓ That the programming of production cycles, the programming and setting of the
work phases, and any other element/system that can be adjusted or calibrated
during the operator's work cycle, must always be carried out by qualified
personnel who must strictly follow the various instructions for the settings as
indicated in this manual.

4.8 - IMPORTANT INFORMATION

A single copy of this use and maintenance manual is supplied with each machine purchased.
Please contact the manufacturer directly if other copies are required.
This manual is intended for the user of the machine or for the maintenance technician or in any
case for the operator of these functions, including the installation.

Read and follow all the instructions in this manual and all the pictograms applied to the
machine, before putting it into operation.

We would like to remind the department manager of the company where the machine in question
is to be installed that before using it, all those involved in its operation must be fully informed on
the conditions of use as well as the relative precautionary measures.
Use of the machine requires the operator(s)/technician(s) to be suitably informed on its use,
observing the instructions in this manual, as well as any specific regulations in force in the country
of destination.

ANYTHING NOT EXPRESSLY INDICATED IN THIS USE AND MAINTENANCE MANUAL IS TO


BE CONSIDERED PROHIBITED.

The operating manual is an integral part of the machine in the same way as any mechanical,
pneumatic or electrical part and must follow the machine if ownership is transferred to another
user.
It must therefore always be in good condition and be kept near the machine to allow easy reference.
It reflects the machine technology at the time of marketing, and is therefore not to be considered
insufficient following updates or improvements made after the aforementioned period.

The fixed guards that are screwed and anchored to the machine must only be removed
by qualified maintenance personnel, and only after the power supply and the pneumatic

The mobile elements of the machine, as required by Directive 2006/42/EC, are designed, built and
arranged to avoid risks; moreover, these elements are protected by suitable guards, suitably fixed
to the structure; these guards are of the fixed type.

It is strictly prohibited to tamper with and/or remove the protective


screens and safety devices.
It is strictly prohibited to operate the machine without protective
screens and/or missing and non-functioning safety devices.
Use of the machine by untrained and unauthorised personnel is
prohibited.

It is strictly prohibited to tamper with and/or remove the safety devices.

5.2 - ELECTRICAL ENCLOSURES


The main electrical enclosure is located outside the perimeter protections. All the devices required
for the machine to operate correctly are installed inside the electrical enclosure. The enclosure is
connected to the machine by dedicated cables. This enclosure is only powered ON after the main
switch of the main electrical enclosure is set to I - ON.
The door of each enclosure has a main switch fitted with a door interlock device, several indicator
lights and an emergency stop pushbutton. The door is opened and closed using a dedicated key.
An electrical hazard is indicated by the use of a dedicated pictogram.
The key MUST ALWAYS be kept by the head of the department and NEVER left inserted in
the electrical enclosure.

See the wiring diagrams affixed to the machine.

5.2.1 - Main Switch


The Main switch for each electrical enclosure is located on the door of the enclosure itself. To
power ON (start) the machine, rotate the main switch to the I-ON position (machine powered ON),
as shown in the figure.
To power OFF the machine, rotate the switch in the opposite direction until it is in the 0-OFF
position (machine powered OFF).

Each switch has a slot that opens with the switch in 0-OFF position. The slot makes it possible to
mechanically lock out the switch using a padlock; this operation must be performed before carrying
out maintenance or to prevent the machine from being used.
5.2.2 - Flashing light and acoustic signal
A signal light device (flashing) is highly visible to the operator from their normal work position.
FLASHING GREEN SIGNAL LIGHT: steady ON indicates the machine is in the work position;
continuous flashing indicates the machine is performing an automatic work cycle.
FLASHING YELLOW SIGNAL LIGHT: flashes to indicate there is an alarm condition, signalled on
the display of the touch screen keyboard.
FLASHING RED SIGNAL LIGHT: steady ON indicates the machine has stopped after the STOP
CYCLE command or emergency stop pushbutton has been pressed.

5.2.3 - Emergency Stop Pushbutton


The machine has several emergency stop pushbuttons located on the control panel and the door
of the electrical enclosure.

When activated (pressed), the emergency stop pushbutton interrupts machine operation.
Red mushroom pushbuttons, equipped with a mechanical interlock, are used; the positive opening
forced contacts are connected to the safety chain. Operation is restored when the operator rotates
and pulls out the head of the pushbutton which was pressed. The contacts actuated by the
emergency stop are connected in series to the safety chain.
The emergency stop command has priority over all other commands. To restore operation following
a stoppage, press the start button.

1. Turn off the machine


2. Loosen the 4 fixing screws of the idle roller support A (M8 wrench 13)
3. Alternately and fully tighten the 2 tensioning screws B (M8 key 13)
4. Completely unscrew the 2 fastening screws of the conveyor belt C2 and loosen the 2 screws C1
(M8 wrench 13)
5. Unscrew the fixing screw of the support surface of the label containers D (M4 Allen key 2.5)
6. Unscrew the 4 fixing screws of the lateral support of the paddle E (M4 hexagonal key 3)
7. Unscrew the fixing screws of the cover of the control panel containment box F and unscrew the
2 fixing screws of the box placed inside G (cross-tip screwdriver and M6 screws hexagonal key 5)
8. Disconnect the RFID antenna connector and extract the brown shielded cable from box H
9. Remove the conveyor belt by pulling it aside
10. Insert the new conveyor belt
11. Tighten the screws E (M4 hexagonal wrench 3 at 2.5Nm), D (M4 hexagonal wrench 3 at 2.5
Nm), C1-C2 (M8 wrench 13 at 20Nm) and the control panel box fixing screws (screws M6 hex key
5 to 8 Nm)
12. Turn on the machine
13. Alternately tighten the 2 tensioning screws B until the belt is sufficiently tensioned so as not to
create undulations while driving
14. Start the conveyor belt and adjust the tension of one of the two sides so that the belt is always
centred. Tension the side where the tape tends to go.
15. Tighten the 4 screws A (M8 wrench 13 at 20 Nm)

Perform the following steps:


1. Turn off the machine
2. Manually move the conveyor belt or the pallet so as to combine the axis of the screw H in the
direction of the hole on the lower part of the motor supports I
3. Loosen the clamp using the M5 H screw with a size 4 hex key
4. Unscrew the 4 M4 motor fixing screws with a size 3 hexagonal wrench
5. Remove the damaged motor and insert the new motor until it is fully seated in the holder
6. Tighten the 4 M4 motor fixing screws with a size 3 hexagonal wrench at 2.5 Nm
7. Screw the clamp using the M5 H screw with a size 4 hex key to 7 Nm
8. Turn on the machine and check for correct operation

9 - PROTECTIONS PRESENT

The machine is equipped as standard with all the operator protection devices. These devices were
designed and manufactured so that the machine complies with the essential safety requirements
set out in Directive 2006/42/EC.

!! Danger !!
For the operator's safety, none of these protections must be removed, except in the event of extraordinary
maintenance operations, which in any case are to be carried out exclusively by qualified maintenance
personnel and following the instructions given in this use and maintenance manual.

Electrical enclosure: the opening of the electrical panel doors is controlled by a door lock switch
(Figure 6) which prevents access to the area where electricity is present (since it is only possible
to open the door of the electrical panel itself when the electrical power supply is disconnected).
The only area where voltage is present is that of the power supply terminals (also protected) as
they have an opening of less than 12 mm.

Emergency: there is an EMERGENCY stop pushbutton (red mushroom pushbutton) on both the
main electrical enclosure and control panel (Figure 7); the operator must press the button
immediately in an emergency situation.
Pressing the button immediately brings the machine to a complete stop, interrupting the power
supply to the machine; even after this button is reset, the machine will not perform any movement
which may be hazardous

the protective devices or failure to comply with safety regulations and the recommendations contained in this
manual.

9.1 - RESIDUAL RISKS

The machine was designed by qualified personnel who considered all current applicable safety
regulations and carried out a risk analysis for the purpose of preventing possible accidents.
Its construction has been carried out by qualified personnel, all the various parts have passed strict
quality control, and after completion, the machine has been subjected to a series of tests designed
to prevent problems of any nature.
Nevertheless, there are hazard, obligation, prohibition and warning signs affixed to the
machine as well as a machine name plate with CE mark. These additional precautions are in
place because there are residual risks that the operator and maintenance technician must know
about in advance. All pictograms, both precautionary and informative are affixed so that they
cannot be removed from the machine.
All the information provided by these pictograms must be scrupulously observed to avoid
risks to people and/or things.

9.2 – ACCESS RESTORE


Every time the emergency button is activated, the machine goes into EMERGENCY status and
the blue RESET light comes on.
To restore the emergency state, the operator must press the blue RESET button.

Description: Machine for checking labels with RFID tags

The manufacturer guarantees the machinery against manufacturing defects or defects in faulty
materials for a period of twenty-four months from the date of testing (SAT) carried out on
23/09/2017. The manufacturer is not liable for any direct or indirect damage to persons or property
resulting from improper use of the machine or its incorrect installation and, in any event, actions
not foreseen in this manual.

During the warranty period, Konia s.r.l. undertakes to provide the free replacement or repair of
defective parts; travel expenses are the responsibility of the customer. The failure to perform
periodic maintenance voids the warranty. Parts subject to wear are not covered by the warranty.
Under no circumstances does the warranty include the replacement of the machine.

Konia s.r.l. undertakes to supply machines in compliance with the agreement, free from defects that
could compromise the use for which they are normally intended.
The Manufacturer is also not liable for defects in electrical and electronic parts, as well as defects
resulting from normal deterioration due to the wearing of those parts subject to rapid consumption
(e.g.: gaskets, fuses, microswitches, remote switches, etc.)
The machine was designed and manufactured to perform deep drawing, punching and
welding metal inserts on tensioned woven metal wire cloth.
The Manufacturer is not liable for any damage resulting from use that falls outside the guidelines set
out in this manual, including negligent or incorrect use.
Konia s.r.l also declines responsibility for any unauthorised modification made to the machine by
the customer who assumes all responsibility for said modifications.

The machine is covered by a 1 (one) year warranty starting from the delivery date shown on
the transport document.
Any parts replaced during the warranty period remain covered up to the date on which the warranty
expires.
The purchaser, under penalty of forfeiture of the warranty, must report in writing to the dealer or to
Konia s.r.l. any nonconformities or faults identified within and no later than 10 days from the detection
and examination/testing of the machine.

Furthermore, they must also permit any reasonable inspection by the seller and return (at the
expense of the seller) the defective parts replaced within a reasonable period of time, if this is
explicitly requested.
Following notification from the buyer and having verified the defect, the seller will make
arrangements at their own expense to:

a) Replace the defective part.


b) Carry out replacement of the part by a specialised technician.

ONLY original spare parts, or parts having the same technical specifications, may be used to replace
defective parts.
Any defective parts to be repaired or replaced under warranty must be sent FREIGHT PREPAID and
will be returned by us FREIGHT COLLECT.
If a technician is required, the relative actual out-of-pocket expenses will be charged to the buyer
(travel, services, etc.)
Without prejudice to the seller's responsibility, any compensation for damages may not exceed the

15 - CONDITIONS NECESSARY TO PROCEED WITH INSTALLATION

The machine must ONLY be installed by personnel assigned by the Manufacturer, Konia srl.
Konia s.r.l. assumes no liability for damage to property or persons resulting from the incorrect installation of
the machine or its components which were performed by external personnel.

Check for signs of damage before proceeding with the installation

Check the various parts which make up the machine to ensure they do not show evident signs of
damage such as dents due to impact, tears, abrasions, etc. which are most likely the result of
careless transport.
Specifically,please check:

• The condition of all buttons, selectors, keyboard, etc. mounted on the machine control
panel, and on the main electrical enclosure.

• The condition of the hydraulic system, with particular attention given to flexible pipes
which must not show signs of tearing, excessive tension or pressure.

• The condition of the pneumatic system, with particular attention given to flexible pipes
which must not show signs of tearing, excessive tension or pressure.

• The integrity and condition of the electrical cables located inside the main electrical
enclosure and the entire machine.

• The condition of the recirculating ball screws, pinions and racks, reducers and drive
motors

• Condition of the tensioning grippers

If any damage is found on the machine, stop the installation phase and immediately report
the nature and extent of the damage to the machine manager.

Before installing the machine at its place of destination, ensure the location satisfies the following
conditions:

• The room where the machine is to be positioned must be clean (excessive quantities of
dust may negatively affect the optimal operating conditions of the electrical and
electronic parts).

• The environmental parameters must match the following conditions as closely as


possible:

Minimum temperature: +10 °C

Maximum temperature: +35 °C

Relative humidity: Max. 85% (NO condensation);

• The floor on which the machine is to rest must be flat (1mm/m) and have a Max. 0.1%
gradient in all directions. An incorrect support surface for the machine can cause
abnormal vibrations which could result in serious damage to the various mechanical,
electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic parts which make up the machine.

• The place chosen to install the machine must be sufficient so as to ensure approximately
one meter of clearance space around the machine to allow the operator easy access to
the entire perimeter of the machine.

• The work environment where the machine is located must provide gentle ventilation
(without excessive currents of air) to facilitate air exchange.

See annex 7 of this manual for the correct positioning of the machine inside the
facility

15.1 - SPECIFICATIONS OF THE FACILITY WHERE THE MACHINE IS TO BE


INSTALLED

Lighting conditions
The lighting (natural or artificial) of the environment chosen for the machine installation
must ensure the following minimum requirements.
• 300 lux for workstations

• Electrical enclosure: 300 Lux.

• All other parts of the machine subject to inspection or maintenance: 300 Lux.

If the place of installation of the machine is lit correctly (having the illuminance values shown
above) it does not need additional light sources.
The machine can, however, be supplied with additional lighting consisting of a lamp
(incandescent) at each work station in order to improve the already high visibility, following the
explicit request of the customer.

15.2 - CLEARANCE FOR PERSONNEL ASSIGNED TO OPERATE THE MACHINE

With regard to the space available for the operator, it is noted that current legislation requires that
the worker must have a surface area of at least 2 m2 and a work envelope of no
less than 10m3 . The values relating to the surface area and work envelope refer to the total area,
without subtracting the furniture, machinery and fixed systems. It is also noted that EN ISO
14738:2002 concerning the anthropometric requirements for the design of workstations on
machinery, provides the following indications with regard to minimum occupied spaces.
The visual requirements of the task often determine the body postures to be adopted. The design
of the work area must consider the following factors:
- viewing angles;
- viewing distances;
- ease of visual discrimination;
- task duration and frequency;
- any particular limitations on the part of the user group, such as eyeglasses or eye
protection.
If the work area on which to focus is slightly to the side, personnel are more likely to turn their
head to have a better view. If the viewing area is located more to one side, personnel are more
likely to turn their entire body. In this situation, clearance must be provided to allow the legs and
feet to follow the movement of the upper body. If the work space for the arm is moved to one side,
personnel are more likely to turn their entire body to reach the space.
In this situation, clearance must be provided to allow the legs and feet to follow the movement of

The figures shown provide the indications for the main body positions which workers can assume
during the performance of their duties.

The figures provide information on additional space requirements for the different dynamic
postures the body can assume during normal operation and maintenance with moderate effort.

In accordance with the provisions of current applicable legislation and EN


ISO 14738:2002, it is recommended to leave clearance to allow body
movements of at least 1000 mm.

15.3 - CLEARANCE FOR PERSONNEL ASSIGNED TO MAINTENANCE AND


EVACUATION/ESCAPE ROUTES

Considering that:
current legislation provides that when materials and processes do not imply a risk of explosion or
specific fire risks in a room, the minimum width of the passageways must exceed 800 mm. If
however the materials and processes do imply a risk of explosion or specific fire risks, the
minimum width of the passageways must exceed 1200 mm;
standard EN ISO 14738, relating to anthropometric requirements for the design of work stations
on the machinery provides information on additional space requirements during normal operation
and maintenance interventions with moderate effort and more specifically for the kneeling

17 - COMMISSIONING THE MACHINE


Installation of the machine and the activities connected to its installation may only be performed
by specialised maintenance technicians:

• Safety shoes must always be worn;

• Never place hands or other parts of the body under components which have been
lifted or could shift due to gravity.

• Do NOT wear rings, watches, bracelets or loose and oversized work garments
during assembly and/or maintenance;

• Do NOT perform interventions which are outside your field of competence and
responsibility.

17.1 - ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS OF USE


The machine can operate without any exception inside a machine industry facility, in a covered,
clean, temperature controlled environment with limited exposure to dust and humidity:
• Temperature: from +5° C to + 40° C;
• Relative humidity: from 30% to 85% (NO condensation);
• Light level: min. 300 lux;
• Pollution degree: 2 (no pollution or presence of non-conducting pollution). DO NOT USE
IN AN EXPLOSIVE ATMOSPHERE

CAUTION
The environmental and operating conditions must not constitute an obstacle to access to
the machine controls, specifically with regard to an emergency stop. The place of
installation of the machine must have good lighting and be free from areas of shade and
glare that could create an annoyance to the operator.

17.2 - POSITIONING

Once it has been verified that all the protections and the blocks have been removed (used to
ensure that parts of the machine do not move or become damaged during shipping and handling),
proceed to position the machine in its intended location.
The load bearing capacity of the flooring must be suitable to sustain the loads listed in annex 6.
The floor on which the machine is installed must be vibration free.

17.3 - DIMENSIONS

The overall dimensions of the machine are provided in section 10.1. See annex 7 for positioning
the machine inside the facility.
The position must have space for a passageway of at least 1 metre from free standing obstacles
to allow the machine to be used safely and proper maintenance to be carried out. If it is not
possible to comply with these distances, contact the Manufacturer for instructions on how to
proceed.

17.4 - LEVELLING

Once the machine has been positioned, it must be levelled acting on the adjustable feet integrated
in the base of the machine using a wrench and counter wrench for hexagonal screws.

Levelling can be checked in both the longitudinal and transverse directions using a spirit level.

CAUTION
When operating machinery, the user must be aware that moving parts and electrical
parts are hazardous, it is therefore important that the instructions provided in this
manual are followed in order to avoid injury and damage.

The power supply line must be connected to the prearranged terminals inside the single control
panel located on the left-hand side of the workstation.

!! Warning !!
Connect the machine to a general electrical system designed and realised according to the current
applicable Safety Regulations in the country where the machine is destined for use.
The system itself must be protected by a differential circuit breaker, sized considering a presumed
current peak of the machine of 65 A. (adjustable boxed circuit breaker switch 160/250A and
differential protection for pulsed currents with intervention delay.)

!! Warning !!
Prior to connecting the machine to the mains power supply, ALWAYS check the data concerning
the type of power supply that the machine requires for its correct operation. This information is
stamped on the name plate affixed to the left-hand side of the machine.

It is recommended to use a power supply line with a capacity of at least 65 A.


Install a 4 pole isolator switch with a capacity of at least 65 A between the power supply line and
the machine.
Prior to connecting the machine to the mains power supply, use a Multimeter to verify the
supply value is the same as that required by the machine ±10% (see name plate on left-hand
side of machine).

!! Warning !!
The power supply - machine connection cable must be 4 poles + earth with an appropriate cross-
section; the cable must be connected to the electrical enclosure, passing it through a suitable
sheath chosen based on the cross-section of the cable itself.

The connections must be made with the terminals of the electrical enclosure located on the right-
hand side of the machine (terminals L1 L2 L3 N Earth).
The protective earthing conductor (PE) must be connected to the earth rod located below the
system terminal block. The power supply line is to be supplied at the expense and care of the
user in consideration of the environmental conditions and the cable must have the minimum
specifications:
protection against direct contacts: the conduit should have a minimum protection class rating of
IP33; in any event, it must ensure adequate mechanical protection for the parts positioned within
2.5 m from the floor;
• protection against direct contacts: the line must contain the protective earth cable
and must be protected upstream by a differential circuit breaker (300mA);

• protection against overcurrents: the line must be protected upstream by a thermal-


magnetic circuit breaker suitable for the maximum absorbed current; t

• cable type: multipolar with sheath compatible with the environmental conditions;

WARNING
Before connecting the power supply line it is necessary to carry out the checks required
on the electrical installation on the machine. The power supply cable connection must be
performed with the main circuit breaker in the open position.
Before closing the main switch, check that the supply voltage is the same as the rated
voltage, that the protection conductor is connected, that the differential protection is
efficient, that all the protections are closed and that there are no persons near the
machine.

17.6 - INITIAL CHECKS

The machine has been tested at the Manufacturer facility, however the checks listed below must
be carried out by the fitter before starting up the machine in order to ascertain the integrity and
suitability of the connections.

Prior to powering ON the supply lines:

•Check the earth connection;


•Check the tightness of the cable fasteners;
•Check the power supply voltage;
•Check the continuity of the protection circuit;
•Measure the insulation resistance;
•Perform the applied voltage test;
•Perform the differential protection trip test;
•Check the air supply pressure;

After powering ON the supply lines:

•Check the operation of the emergency pushbutton and fault signalling;


•Check the functionality of the safety switch;
•Check the direction of rotation of the motors.

CAUTION
These checks must be carried out by a specialised maintenance technician who must
ensure that there are no people working or standing in the vicinity of the machine.

19 - INTRODUCTION TO MAINTENANCE

!! Warning !!
In modern companies, the correct MAINTENANCE of machinery is synonymous with their greater
productivity, longer service life, as well as an incentive to ACCIDENT PREVENTION on the part of
the operator.

Maintenance personnel must therefore operate with the aim of preventing the deterioration of
the machine by periodically carrying out the checks (as indicated in the use and maintenance
manual) on parts which are most subject to wear and ensure the replacement of the worn parts
which no longer guarantee the perfect operation of the machine.
It is recommended that maintenance personnel are constantly updated on the equipment installed
and on any new methods of operating acquired with experience and that they keep constantly
updated with technical literature.

How to organise maintenance


In small and medium-sized production units, it is generally the maintenance technician who takes
care of both the electrical and mechanical parts of the machinery.
From the moment the machine is installed in the facility, responsibility for it is handed
over to the maintenance technician to whom a copy of this use and maintenance manual
must be delivered.
The Manufacturer remains available to answer any questions and provide clarification, if
necessary.
The maintenance of the machine must be included immediately in the maintenance programme
of the plant, and all the interventions carried out must be recorded on the maintenance sheet
attached to the manual, as well as on the internal maintenance sheet of the company.
This, along with the knowledge that will be acquired over time, makes it possible to increase the
productivity of the machine.
The maintenance technician must ensure that he has all the tools necessary to intervene correctly on the
machine as well as replacement parts for any parts which are subject to wear as recommended by the
Manufacturer.

19.1 - PREVENTIVE AND PROGRAMMED MAINTENANCE

Faults can be prevented by performing proper and thorough maintenance.


In order to carry out correct preventive maintenance, it is necessary to periodically and
continuously check the perfect efficiency of the machine and carefully analyse any faults
detected, recording them carefully on the attached maintenance sheet.
It is recommended to never make small, makeshift repairs; repairs must always performed
to standard and in a manner which resolves the problem definitively.

This method of working makes it possible to prevent the occurrence of faults resulting from makeshift repairs
which create major problems for the machine itself and could be a source of danger to operators.

19.2 - ROUTINE MAINTENANCE PROGRAMME

The routine maintenance programme must be carried out daily and weekly. As well as improving the
efficiency and productivity of the machine, it is also useful for complying with accident prevention regulations.

Proper cleaning of the machine makes the work environment healthier and safer, making it possible
to identify controls and signals easily and without error.
Proper cleaning of the area surrounding the machine makes it safer and easier for the operator to
move around.

Checks to be performed daily:

1. Check the efficiency of the microswitches, mechanical and inductive limit switches
2. Check the correct operation of the red emergency stop mushroom pushbutton
3. Cleaning the conveyor belt.

Work to be performed monthly:

1. Cleaning the machine.


2. Check the condition of the safety stickers
3. Lubricate components where necessary
4. Check the voltage value of the electrical control circuits
5. Check the electrical connections and ensure the terminals are correctly tightened,
paying particular attention to those of the main power supply.

Work to be performed annually:

1. Check the screws, nuts and bolts are tightened securely


2. Check the cleanliness of the filters
3. Check the degree of freedom of movement and wear of moving parts
4. Check the earth connection
5. Check and tighten the terminals of the main power supply cable
6. Measure the insulation resistance
7. Check the levelling of the machine
8. Check the condition and integrity of the hydraulic and pneumatic connections

Note: frequency is determined by considering a working day to be 8 hours.

19.3 - CLEANING THE MACHINE AND/OR ITS INDIVIDUAL COMPONENTS

19.4 - LUBRICATING AND GREASING THE MACHINE

Lubrication and topping up operations must ONLY be performed with the machine
stopped and the electrical system disabled.
When lubricating the machine and its parts, it is recommended to wear protective gloves to

Machine lubrication is of fundamental importance to its functioning and ensure a longer service
life for the parts which are subject to wear. The parts of the machine which require lubrication are
listed in the table below.

The correct lubrication of moving parts results in less wearing of the parts in contact, perfect
functionality and a longer service life, without machine problems.

!! Warning !!
The operator assigned to maintenance must wear work garments, protective gloves and safety
shoes with steel toe cap in order to avoid risks during maintenance.

!! Warning !!
Clean all the sensitive parts of the machine with a chemically non-aggressive detergent in order to
avoid damaging them. Always use a soft cloth which will not scratch the surfaces to be cleaned.
Note: frequency is determined by considering a working day to be 8 hours. No reference
is made to operating instructions for lubrication as it is sufficient to apply the rules of
good practice.

19.4.1 - Lubrication
!! Warning !!
Correct and continuous lubrication of the machine makes it possible to always have a machine
which is in perfect operating condition and significantly prolongs its service life.

Monitor and screens


Read and follow these instructions and the instructions of the screens when connecting and
using them.

Operation:
• Do NOT expose the touch screen to direct sunlight and keep it away from devices which
radiate heat.

Maintenance:
• To protect the touch screen from possible damage, do not exert excessive pressure on
the LCD panel.
• If the monitor needs to be cleaned, remove its plug from the electric socket and use a
slightly damp cloth. The screen can be dried with a dry cloth while disconnected from
the mains power supply. NEVER use organic solvents such as alcohol, or ammonia
based liquids to clean the monitor.
• If the monitor becomes wet, wipe it with a dry cloth.

• If foreign substances or water penetrate the monitor, switch the power OFF immediately
and disconnect the power supply cable of the machine.
• To maintain optimal performance of the monitor and use it for a prolonged period, use
the device in a location with the following environmental conditions:
o Temperature: 5-40°C 41-104°F
o Humidity: 20-80% RH

19.5 - REPLACING ELECTRICAL DEVICES

Replacement
To maintain the good condition of the equipment use ONLY original spare parts.
Fuses
Replace blown fuses ONLY after the cause has been properly identified.
Dispose of used batteries in accordance with the instructions supplied with the new battery or as
specified in the product manual.
Signalling lamps
Replace the non-functioning lamps or the non-functioning and / or damaged ceiling lights with
original spare parts ONLY.
Locking and interlocking devices
Check the good condition and correct operation of these devices. Carry out any necessary
replacements using ONLY original spare parts.
Carry out repairs or adjustments in accordance with the instructions contained in the technical
sheet of the device.
Final check
Following industrial maintenance or repair, always check the system functions correctly under
controlled conditions in order to avoid hazards if any faults are identified.

19.6 - EXTRAORDINARY MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS

Over the service life of the machine, extraordinary maintenance performed by the Manufacturer
is required every five years. With regard to repairs, these can be performed according to the rules
of good practice, using original spare parts.

CAUTION
All sources of energy must be isolated before starting to make repairs. If a
component fails, an incident analysis must be performed to determine the
cause of the failure.
