The dynamic nature of technology has prompted many companies and other institutions

to incorporate the use of the internet and software in their business. As a result, there is a

growing need for software developers in different sectors. Besides, many people want cost-

effective and coding programs that can help them to simultaneous save time and money. Coding

Bootcamp provides a cheap, reliable and fast alternative as opposed to the traditional four-year

degrees.

According to the article, “Lambda School, Pioneering Coding Bootcamp, Releases

Student Outcomes Report” by Cooper (2020), most students want a career pathway that will help

them develop professionally but they hate spending many years in the classroom and having

student debts. Coding Bootcamp offers an alternative to conventional undergraduate and

graduate degrees. This article is important to aspiring software developers who are seeking

effective and cheaper alternative ways of professional development. This article aims to examine

the advantage of coding Bootcamp over conventional four-year degrees which are accompanied

by student debts and a lot of classroom time. The author concludes that coding Bootcamp has

promising returns because it has helped many people to secure employment in large tech

companies.

In his article, “The rise of the coding boot camp,” Duffner (2014), states that in the past

if an individual wanted to be a software developer, they would go for a four-year degree course

in computer science or read books at their free time. He asserts that neither of these approaches

could promise a job despite many years they take. However, the emergence of coding Bootcamp

has revolutionized learning. People now go for coding Bootcamp courses instead of four-year

college degrees. The purpose of the article is to inform individuals with little or no prior

knowledge in information technology that it is possible to become a software developer in less

than a year through coding Bootcamp. The author concludes that coding Bootcamp is better than

traditional college degrees because they fast, cheap and allow the learners to interact with

professional developers.

Both Cooper and Duffner agree that coding Bootcamp is cheaper, faster and more

efficient compared to four-year college degrees. However, while Duffner claims that coding

Bootcamp are critical in boosting professional development because it allows contact with

experienced software developers, Cooper argues that they increase the chances of getting a job

faster. Duffner emphasizes on the ever-growing need for software developers as the rationale for

coding Bootcamp while Cooper focuses on college expenses and the accumulation of student's

debt.

The two articles provide the benefits of coding Bootcamp but do not state the challenges

associated with them. They will play a significant role in my research paper because they

examine how successful coding Bootcamp can help in the effective professional development of

software engineers and coders.
