More Cowbell!

- Drum Beat from 'Feeling This' - Travis Barker

In this lesson we are going to take a look at the drum beat that first pops up at around 43 seconds in to the
track 'Feelng This' by Blink 182, featuring Travis Barker on drums. The groove has got a latin style ostinato on
a cowbell, that we will be playing with the left hand. Before attempting this groove, I recommend postioning your
cowbell to the left hand side of the hi hats so that your hands aren't getting in the way of each other.

This is the groove as played by Travis himself.

This is a slightly more basic version of the groove in which we are going to focus on the hand pattern. This is only my
suggested sticking, but I am pretty sure this is the sticking that Travis himself uses. It is also an option to play solid
16th notes with your right hand, rather than skipping the hi hat on the 'a' of beat 1, and the 'e' of beat 4.

This is a closer look at beats 1 & 2 of the groove. I suggest learning beats 1 and 2, then beats 3 and 4 separately

When you are confortable with the initial hand pattern, we can then add the extra kick on the 'a' of beat 4 and the open
hi hat on beat 1. The open hat only lasts for a single 16th note. Now that you have got that down, see if you can get it
up to speen with your head banging - Travis Barker style.
