SI Scholarships
• Academic year of 2019/2020 475 persons from 50
countries were awarded a SI Scholarship for studies in
Sweden on Master’s or PhD/post-doc level at 29
universities to a total cost of 186 MSEK.
• Grants 10 000 SEK on master’s level
• 18 000 SEK PhD level
• 21 000 SEK on Post-doc
• Membership in SI Network for Future Global Leaders
and SI Alumni

- Overview
• Aim - To contribute to poverty alleviation through capacity building of
individuals and to contribute to a mutual exchange of knowledge and
networking for global talent
• Level – Master studies. Eligible master’s programmes only
• Scholarships for citizens of 34 countries on the OECD-DAC list

SI Scholarships for Global Professionals
- Eligibility criteria
• Have at least 3000 hours of work experience
• Have demonstrated leadership experience
• Be liable to pay application and tuition fees
• Be admitted to an eligible master’s programme
on time
• Should not have previously lived in Sweden for
more than two years, be currently enrolled in a
master’s programme at a Swedish university,
have previously been awarded an SI scholarship,
or hold a degree from a Swedish university.

• Annual intake of around 200-300 scholarship

Visby programme

• Aim – Focus on individual mobility of academic talents to promote


professional collaboration and lasting relations between Sweden an the
programme countries. Aims to build an integrated, research-intense region
in order to achieve a sustainable economic growth and regional
development.
• Level – Master’s, PhD and post-doc level. Scholarships for citizens of 7
countries EU Eastern Partnership countries and Russia.
• Eligable countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia Moldova, Russia
and Ukraine.

Visby programme

• Started 1997

• Budget 30 MSEK

• Annual intake of around 140 scholarship holders - high competition of


scholarships

• 2019/2020 826 applicants applied 530 admitted 65 received a scholarship


offer (master’s level)

• PhD post-doc 128 applicants and 38 received a scholarship

• PhD and postdoctoral research visit can be 6, 9, 12 months 18 000 SEK

SI Scholarships for Western Balkans

• Scholarships for citizens of Albania, Bosnia and


Hercegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and
Serbia.

• Aims to forge closer links with EU and contribute to


positive social development.

• 5-6 scholarships per year only on Master’s level

• Targets future leaders with demonstrated and relevant


work and leadership experience

Swedish Turkish Scholarship programme
• Started 2002

• Budget 7 MSEK

• Annual intake of around 30 scholarship holders on Master’s and PhD level -


high competition of scholarships

• 2019/2020 Both programmes: 212 applicants applied 127 admitted18


received a scholarship offer (master’s level)

• PhD and post-doc level only Turkey 70 applicants and 17 received a
