Nowadays, more than ever, the world is connected therefore people move around from

place to place, either for immigrating purposes or tourism. Tourism has become a hazard to
traditional coastal cities whence tourists attractions thrive.

For instance, Olhâo, a fisher village located in the south of Portugal, has been continuously
exploited by tourism for decades. What once was a humble, tranquil place for fishermen, is now
soaring with sightseers, who have helped the economy, at the cost of destroying its characteristic
wildlife and the majestic uniqueness of that place.

Take for example Venice, one of the most eye-catching cities in the world, is now losing its
essence due to the streets being crowded with people. Residents complain they cannot even do
basic day-to-day chores. It has also increased the real estate value by an astounding amount, forcing
traditional residents leave their family houses.

Tourism catches and destroys everything in its path, leaving nothing but a ravished
landscape with money grabbing attractions. It can also be referred as a child, when it is done toying
with someplace, tourism leaves it behind and finds somewhere else to play.

ummarising, tourism may have beneficial effects on some occasions, however, more often
than not, the consequences outweigh the benefits. We ought not stop travelling, we just have to do
it in a more sustainable way.
