The vagabonds wonder in the woodland for very long before they find the clearing where

the ancient tree stands. At first glance, the clearing looks like any other with its grassy
meadow, but closer inspection reveals that it's not. The trees are dark and twisted, their
branches reaching out above them like a great tangle of grasping fingers. There's something
unnatural about this place, although none of the vagabonds can put their finger on what.
They've seen stranger things than this, but never so close to home.

They decide to camp here while they think over their next move. It doesn't take them long
to realize how dangerous this forest is. As they sit around the fire, the vagabonds argue
about what to do.

"We should leave," says one. "No good will come from staying."
