A Vire Line job under ores- sure, especially with the presence of gas, needs careful preparation and equipment adapted to the job to be performed. High pressure jobs require also close cooperation between the rig crew and FLOPETROL Personnel. A perfect understanding of al1 operational steps, possible hazards and any emergency shut-in procedures is a prerequisite for all pres- sure jobs and should be discussed on the snot with the client before- hand - PERSONNEL SAFETY = Always wear your safety equipment when working on Pressure Control Equipment (boots, hard hat, overall, gloves, goggles). - If HS is oresent or suspected, always carry escape mask around the neck"during the job. = In the presence of H,S. bleeding off lubricator must be performed by_an operator wearifg a self breathing apparatus. = = = = = Alse, any oneration on the well head and associated equipment (discon- nection, actuation of BOP or valves ... etc) must be watched by an overator or someone from the rig crew, ready for emergency action. «»HgS CAN KILL YOU... Nake sure that nobody is standing downwind. Crews working in isolated locations must always carry a FIRST AIO KIT. a SAFETY wee Match 1978 SAFE PROCEDURES WELL SITE - NO SMOKING is allowed on of near the well site ~ CLEAR THE WAY to the X-mas tree or wellhead. Handling heavy equiament can be hazardous if the ground is littered with loose boards, scrans of of] field equipment, nails, mud-filled holes... etc - DO NOT JUMP from olatforms, use the stairs and ladders - When working above water, wear your LIFE-JACKET = Take care where you place your feet when climbing the X-mas tree. fin notgrasp any part of the tree which is not firmly secured. (valve handles ...etc) ~ Should night work be foreseen, take the aparopriate steps to en- sure PROPER LIGHTING. TOOLS = Keep al) hammers, chisels, punches .., etc in perfect condition = Do not use a steel sledge hanmer to tighten connections ‘A BRASS SLEDRE HAMMER is a must SURFACE RIG UP 100 ft Whenever possible, do not install the wireline unit downwind AFETY 3 - Horking pressure of the surface equipment should be selected to suit the Well Head Shut-in Pressure and the nature of effluent {sweet or H,5) = Carefully watch the NP of the crossover between well head and BOP - Always have a oressure gauge in your tool box (range> NASI) - Check the oil level, diesel and battery of the wireline unit before each operation = Aways work in SIGHT of each other = When running a wireline job, always have a CLEAR VIEW OF THE STUF- FING BOX = Always SECURE the winch to the platform ar deck on which it is installed = Never run in a well with the WINCH ENGINE STOPPED = When coming out of the hole, use the WINCH RELIEF VALVE = The gin pole should be GUYED properly - Aways make sure that the pressure has been BLED OFF to zero befare attempting to unscrew the unibolt at the top of the swab valve = The B.0.P. should always be PRESSURE TESTED before each jab. When using stranded line, leaks will develop around 2 500 psi. Use a flushrod of the same 9D = Do not climb or let anyone else climb the lubricator whenever it is UNDER PRESSURE. Use the remote control stuffing box tightening device = When rigging up or down a lubricator, NEVER STAY BELOW it. Always use the wireline clamp(s) = The hay pulley must be attached to the well head in such a way that the wireline between the stuffing box and the hay pulley is PARALLEL TO THE LUBRICATOR = Always open up a well SLOWLY until the Tubricator is pressurized. The lower master valve should be opened first (if closed), then the upper master valve and the swab valve. - To close in the well, proceed in the reverse way SAFETY Ye enccUce Hes = Never attempt to remove the lubricator without first BLEEDING OFF THE PRESSURE. Operate the needle valve of the Tubricator seve- ral times to ensure it is not PLUGGED WITH ICE = Make sure that the WHOLE WIRELINE STRING is in the lubricator before closing the swab valve. WIRELINE ~ When working in HS, use the proper cable and INHIBIT the wire (Kentol, Norust) by*means of a liquid chamber - When CUTTING wire at the surface (rig down) wake sure that neither end can fly out - Keep track of the number of hours the wire has worked CHANGE IT BEFORE IT 1S TOO LATE. Check it frequently for defects or corrasion. Between each job, cut and remove 10 ft of wire. Do this more frequently during fishing jabs requiring heavy jarring = When leaving the wireline string in the hole (pressure survey) put RAGS on the wire between well head and winch to prevent people and vehicle from hitting the wire - Make sure before running in the well that there fs enough wire ‘on the drum to reach the total denth. WIRELINE OPERATIONS = Always WRITE DOWN the length and 00 of the different components of the wireline string prior to running in the well = When breaking dawn the wireline string, put the wrenches about 5" from either Side of the breaking joint to prevent the FINGERS FROM BEING HURT Feel she kanderd praction|ta wunsgauge:cubters onveither hare tines of al - When running in for the first time, always CHECK the WEIGHT fre- quently SAFETY ~ Before attempting a fishing job, check that the lubricator is LONG ENOUGH ta handle both lost string and fishing string = When leaving the wireline string in the hole (Amerada survey) do not forget to CLAMP the wire = Select the right size wireline string versus tubing ID to make sure it can be fished. ~ If you clean or qrease the cable while pulling out, make sure your hand is far away from the hay pulley or measuring device. ff ‘SECTION T went ea SURFACE EQUIPMENT page 1 March 1978 FLOPETROL PRESSURE CONTROL EQUIPMENT Fy CONTROL HEAD #2 GUY LINES FOR A 3 SECTION LUBRICATOR 4 GUY LINES FOR A 4 SECTION LUBRICATOR 3 [Manzezs [5% 5 [menos [s Ts 7 Maozi7s [oa [5%] 2 5 6 i 5 [maoog7a [5 | 5 meo2i76 (5%, |5%4) 24 5 908635 a ha a0aea 5 M B0R6AO 6 5 fw 908643 5 3 fm aoesa2 5 fm s08645 fa%|maceare | 5 [6% maori (5%, |6 4 [M BO864a « 6% ]mgoneas«| § |8,| mpaz62t °|5%,|6 | Mece6a7 a%]m soars [6 '|6% maazir7 [6%\6 javeouese = [6/6 % 0 00087 = [67/6 M e07t91« (6316 y, fw e08ee9 3% [ma0s64e a 4 fs mM naz6z2- fe De © With Bleed OF Velve BOP = aay [saa ies [eM Je", ADAPTOR * API Flanged ~ = — 10000 S“ STUFFING BOX M 803998 STOP RING a 2 eacunie-evige Gr Bi SURFACE EQUIPMENT SET OF PACKINGS | PACKING PriMARO) [P2 (SOFT) | RING March 1878 072 [= 08 oie 6823123 |ga2a128 | m a00se3 moo saz 082 803666) 6 823120 Msosess 105, 811 169 825707 | Ga2a121 |msoase7 6625702 | manies Mai 166 6 921932 SURFACE EQUIPMENT 5000 H2S STUFFING BOX M g07688 STOP RING He PACKING GUIDE RING ment loned 125 puuncen __——~ | | ’ 3’ 0D Acme 5” (seheesd nen) PACKING ‘GUIDE RING. Rapid operation by depressing the central button and pushing or pulling the knob. b. Gradual operation, to obtain a fine setting, by screwing or unscrewing, - Put the starter handle in position and use it to start, very gradually, ‘the inertial starter. Do not attempt to attain 80 r.p.m very rapidly = When this regime is reached. bring the starter into operation by lifting the lever and releasing it when the engine starts. - Push the accelerator lever back and adjust to the required regime. = ELECTRIC STARTER - Pull the accelerator contro] lever right back = Push the starter button all the way down and release it when the motor has started. = Pull the accelerator control lever back and adjust to the required regime. SURFACE EQUIPMENT As much as possible, avoid letting the engine tick over as this may cause carbon build-up in the cylinders. © STOPPING THE ENGINE CAUTION Do not stop the engine if the winch is still in operation. The hydraulic circuit may be unprimed which will damage the rotating parts (hydraulic pump, hydraulic motor ...}. To stop the engine, pull the accelerator control lever right back © RECOMMENDATIONS Special attention should be paid te local conditions when operating the equipment. In a dusty atmosphere it is recommended to use a special oi! bath filter on the engine. Moreover ventilation of the unit should be via an air filter. If the engines used under the above conditions do not have these special filtering devices, the cylinder head and block fins must be cleaned at reqular intervals, (which will vary with the air pollution). UM IDLE THE ENGINE FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES TO WARM UP THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM. © WINCH OPERATION ~ Remove cover, and fold down side vane] on drum side. ~ Remove seat from transport sunnort and fit onto swivel suonort on contro} desk side. ~ Install measuring device sunnort and connect to shock absorber by shaft, and fit security pin. - Fit overating lever on bented arms. ~ Pre-set drum speed to suit nature of work. Three methads can be used : a) Adjusting the drive unit sneed, b) Adjusting the drive unit 4-way distributor, ) Acting on the valve control lever, to thrattie 011 flow ~ Release handbrake - Select drum rotary direction by pushing distributor lever for running onerations and oulling it back for nulling onerations.
