Introduction / Vocabulary
Ecopot:
It is a self-sufficient system that does not require maintenance or input of external matter,
as they are sealed at the time of construction.

Ecosystem:
An ecosystem is a geographic area where plants, animals, and other organisms, as well
as weather and landscape, work together to form a bubble of life. Ecosystems contain
biotic or living, parts, as well as abiotic factors, or nonliving parts. Biotic factors include
plants, animals, and other organisms.

Ecology:
Ecology is the study of the environment, and helps us understand how organisms live
with each other in unique physical environments.

Biotope:
A biotope is defined as «the habitat together with its recurring associated community of
species, operating together at a particular scale»

Biocenosi:
The set of living beings that coexist, develop and live in the same place, with a series of
environmental and physical conditions that make life possible in it, this physical space is
called a biotope.
Objective:
The objective of the ecopot is to observe and analyze from outside the ecosystem the
changes made both in the animals and in the place where they live, and answer the
questions of the hypotheses. In this case, as it is a marine ecosystem, we will have to
observe how the water changes color and if there are more or less over the weeks,
what state the plants are in and, finally, the state of the animals that live in the
ecosystem.

Hypothesis:
I believe that during this time the water in the pot will reduce quite a bit. The living
organisms that exist will continue to be alive, since they have enough food to survive,
they will even be able to reproduce and I think that the time will come when there will
be more living beings. Speaking of the temperature, I think that it will rise, since there
are living organisms in the jar, they radiate heat and the heat transfers to the
ecosystem and the temperature of the water will rise.

Matherial
MATHERIAL BIOCENOSI BIOTOPE

● Glass jar Living organisms: Abiotic factor:

● Top ● Algae ● Stone
● Water
● Adhesive tape ● Sea fleas
● Ph water
● Marker pen ● Ceratophyllum ● Light
(Aquatic plant) ● Water oxygen
Limiting factor:
● Mosquitoes
● Food
● Sea snails (Bithynia ● Company
tentaculata )
● Dragonflies larvae

RELATIONSHIP: we mean that they are related between the elements of the
biotop (Stone, Water, pH, temperature). with the living beings of the biocenosi
or those of the biocenosi with themselves.
First day
The first day we made the ecopot we
started by taking a glass pot to clean it
deeply. Then we cleaned some stones
without leaving a trace of dirt or sand and
placed them at the bottom of the jar to
make it look like an ecosystem. We added
water from a natural pool, this water
contained algae, snails and sea fleas. We
close the jar with adhesive tape and put
the name with a marker.
After following all the steps we can see that the water is brown because the
plants have not cleaned the water.

Second week
A week later we can see how the algae
and (aquatic plants) that were inside the
jar have absorbed the "dirt" that was
there, unlike the first day we could see
how the water was darker and days later
we can see that the water is clearer. The
water temperature has slightly increased
compared to the first day and the water
level has decreased a little bit.

Third week
In the third week you can see how the water is
completely clear and with fewer impurities, the water level
continues to decrease with each passing week. The
temperature remains the same as the previous week. Living
organisms are seen to be growing as they feed on algae or
particles.
Conclusions
At the end of this ecopot we have been able to observe that many things mentioned in the

hypothesis have been fulfilled, compared to the first day the water level has decreased in

these three weeks, the living organisms have survived but they have not had time to

reproduce as we had thought what would happen. Speaking of the temperature, it has

increased during these weeks.

My opinion about this project is good, it has been a very didactic way of studying ecosystems

since it was we, the students, who created this ecosystem and observing our ecopot these

weeks has been very entertaining.
