deviation, skewness, kurtosis) of 3 Quantitative variables (Team salary, Wins, ERA) variables.

Answer the question no. 5

Correlations

Team Salary Average salary

Team Salary Pearson Correlation 1 -.516*

Sig. (2-tailed) .041

N 32 16
Average salary Pearson Correlation -.516* 1

Sig. (2-tailed) .041

N 16 16

*. Correlation is significant at the 0.05 level (2-tailed).

Interpretation: Here,

r= -0.516; which means, 2 variables Team Salary and Average salary are negatively moderately
related. This indicates that, with the increase in Total team salary expressed in million dollars
(team salary), Average annual player salary in dollars (Average salary) decreases and vice versa.

Answer the question no. 6

Regression Analysis: Team Salary (dependent) against Wins, HR and ERA (independent)

Coefficients

Standardized
Unstandardized Coefficients Coefficients

Model B Std. Error Beta t Sig.

1 (Constant) 729.679 299.161 2.439 .021

Wins -.367 .818 -.076 -.449 .657

HR .414 .251 .282 1.647 .111

BA -2412.099 1153.198 -.358 -2.092 .046

Regression model is as follows:

𝑻𝒐𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝑺𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒓𝒚 = 729.679 - 0.367∗ 𝑾𝒊𝒏𝒔 + 0.414 ∗ 𝑯𝑹 - 2412.099∗ 𝑩𝑨
Here,
intercept, α= 729.679, β1 =-.367, β2 =.414, β3 =-2412.099
Interpretation:
Here, α= 729.679; indicates that with Wins= 0, HR= 0 and BA= 0, Total salary will increase by
729.679 million. β1 = -.367; indicates with 1 unit decrease in Wins, Team salary will increase by
.414 unit. β2 = .414; indicates with 1 unit increase in HR, Total salary will increase by .414 unit.
β3 =-2412.099; indicates with 1 unit decrease in BA, Team salary will decrease by -2412.099 unit.
