Labor law: Legislation specifying responsibilities and rights in employment, particularly the
responsibilities of the employer and the rights of the employee.

Work contract: Signed agreement between an individual employee and an employer or a labor union.
It establishes both the rights and responsibilities of the two parties.

Working day: Any day in which normal business work.

Salary: Fixed regular payment, typically paid on a monthly basis but often expressed as an annual sum,
made by an employer to an employee.

Settlement: Official agreement intended to resolve a dispute or conflict.

Modification of the contract: Any written change by the contracting officer to the contract terms
and conditions.

Syndical freedom: One appointed to represent a corporation, university, or other organization in


business transactions.

Social security: Federal insurance scheme providing benefits for pensioners and those who are
unemployed or disabled.

Unemployment: Situation where a person actively searches for employment but is unable to find
work.

Collective agreement: Agreement between an employer or an employer's organisation and an


employees' organisations, made and submitted for registration under this Law
