it builds empathy where you will be able to understand the feelings of other people and
understand their point of view
it limits judgements because when you practice active listening, you will also learn to remain
open, neutral and nonjudgmental, if you listen well, you will prevent yourself from judging the
person
lastly it improves relationships with other people, so those listening techniques will help you
become a better listener and if you are a better listener, you will be able to build a strong
connection to the speaker and build stronger bonds.
Be fully present, sometimes when we are listening, we are physically present but mentally
absent, right? when the listener is pre occupied and has a lot of things running on her mind, she
will lose her concentration from listening to the speaker. In that case, the listener will not be able
to pay attention. So the listener have to clear her mind of everything else so she can focus
entirely on what the other person is saying, remove the unecessary thoughts that is not related to
the speaker's topic.
Offer non verbal cues that you are listening only if it comes naturally to you.
Example of non verbal cues are eye contact, attentive posture, and nodding or facial expression.
Those non verbal cues are important to show that you are interested to the speaker. buts its hard
to pay attention to someones words when you are busy reminding yourself to make regular eye
contact and to remain your posture, in that case you are forgetting that you are listening. so just
an advice that offer non verbal cues naturally. Because if you are forced to do so, it will just
show that you are uninterested to listen to the speaker.
