Reaction:
The overall prevalence of postpartum depression during the COVID-19
pandemic was comparable to that prior to the epidemic. But among women who
gave birth during pandemic wave 4, there was a noticeable rise in the prevalence
of postpartum depression. These results show that the pandemic has a significant
influence on the development of depressive symptoms after childbirth and can be
used to develop psychological interventions to reduce depression in these
women. Additionally, the low occurrence of postpartum depression during wave 1
may demonstrate that hospital limits to stop COVID-19 had little effect on
postpartum women's depressive symptoms.
