As part of your internal assessment for the Academic Session 2022-2023, you are expected to carry out
the subject enrichment activity.Imagine that your school is organizing a programme, showcasing the
tribal culture of India.The student will represent themselves as one of the tribes of India.

TOPIC: Tribal Culture and Tradition


Introduction:The diverse socio-cultural traditions of the tribal groups in our country, their rituals, their synergy
with the environment and their unique dialects impart strength to the social fabric of India.Every tribe has a rich
and living cultural tradition. It is our Constitutional obligation to respect our tribal heritage.

Some of the prominent tribes of India are as follows:


 Santhals of Bihar, Bengal, and Jharkhand
 Kols of Bengal
 Khonds of Odisha
 Mundas of Jharkhand
 Bhils of Central India
 Khasis and Ahoms of North-eastern India
 Irula tribe in South India

Guidelines:

 It is an individual oriented activity.


 You are expected to dress up with basic accessory (clothing, jewelry, masks, headgear,and tattoos. Use
your own creativity and design ecofriendly props.
 You shall introduce your tribe with a short speech which shall include:
 Name of the tribe
 Geographical location
 Language
 Food
 Population
 Means of livelihood
 Festivals
 Dance forms

 Important personalities
 Presentation should not exceed 1 minute.
 Write up of your presentation should be submitted to the teacher on the day of activity.
 Submission to be done from 1 July to 8 July.

Material Required:
1. Stationary: a) color pens b) pencil c) eraser
2. A4 size chart paper.

Note :It is important that the report is HAND WRITTEN .


1. Students are expected to apply the Social Science concepts that they have learnt in order to prepare the
activity.
2. Students may access data from any reliable source to prepare the activity.
3. The distribution of marks over different aspects relating to activity is asfollows:
