MATHEMATICS 9
January 27, 2022 (9:15 - 10:15 am)

I. Objective

At the end of the lesson, student must be able to:

a. define oblique Triangle.

b. identify the application of the sine law; and

c. state the Law of Sines.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: The Law of Sines

Reference: Mathematics 9 for 21st century learner, page 338

Materials: Power point presentation, Manila paper, laptop, projector, marker,

charts.

Values Integrated: Cooperation and patience is a must.

III. Procedure

A. Preliminary Activities

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

5. Review

*What is our lesson last meeting?

*the students will answer

*Very good

*What is Application of right triangles ?

*Answer may vary
B. LESSON PROPER

1. Motivation

Before we start the lesson, let us have a

group activity.

The class will be divided into 4 groups.

Each group will receive an envelope. The

envelope contains puzzles and it is

needed for our lesson today. I will just give

you three minutes to solve the puzzle.

After that, you are going to paste it here on

the board. Are you ready class? * Yes ma’am!

Please proceed to your groupings. (Students are grouping)

3 minutes, go. (Students are doing the activity)

(Students are showing their work)

Times up! Show your work!

What did you form out of the puzzle? * Answer may vary.

That’s correct!

a. Presentation of objectives

Based on the activity, our lesson for today

is The Law of Sines, but before we

proceed to our discussion kindly read our *the students will read the objectives

lesson objectives first…

b. Unlocking of difficulties

 Right triangle - is a triangle with a right

angle.
 Oblique triangle - is a triangle with no

right angle.

 Acute triangle - in an oblique triangle

with all angles acute.

 Obtuse triangle - is an oblique triangle *the students will read the objectives

with one obtuse angle.

Example:
2. Activity

(Group Activity)

The teacher will group the class into

three groups.

Direction:

With in four minutes, identify whether the

triangle is right triangle, oblique, acute and

obtuse. Choose one representative to

present your answer.

1.

Answer:

2. 1. Acute triangle

2. Obtuse triangle

3.Right triangle

4. Oblique triangle

3.

4.

3. Analysis

1. Based in your activity, how will you identify

the different angles of triangle?

2. What did you observed in the sides of each

* Answers may vary.
triangles?

4. Abstraction

*The Sine Law - relates sides and

opposite angles, then solves triangles

whenever a side and its opposite

angle are unknown.

*For any triangle, the lengths of the

sides are proportional to the sines of

the opposite angles.

a b c
= =
sin A sin B sin C

*The sine law stands for three

equations:

a b
=
sin A sin B

a c
=
sin A sinC

b c
=
sin B sin C

5. Application

The teacher will show a pictures and

from the given pictures the students

will try to find what triangles can be

solved by sine law in the following.

1.

Answer: The triangles in numbers 2 and 4

can be solved by the sine law.

2.

3.

4.
