A SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN GRADE 9 MATHEMATICS

KITE AND ITS PROPERTIES

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
1. Define Quadrilateral Kite;
2. Identify the condition that guarantee a quadrilateral is a kite; and
3. Solve problem involving kite

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Quadrilateral: The Kite and Its Properties
Content: Geometry

III. MATERIALS
Laptop
PowerPoint Presentation
Activity sheet

IV. PROCEDURE
a. Preparatory Activities
The Teacher greets the students and checks the attendance

b. Motivation
The teacher asks student to draw a kite.

c. Presentation of the Lesson

The teacher will present a picture of rhombus and kite and asks the students
what is the difference between the two shapes.

d. Lesson Proper
The teacher discusses the kite and its properties,
A Kite is a quadrilateral that has two pairs of consecutive congruent sides, but
opposite sides is not congruent.
Theorem 17: If a quadrilateral is a kite, then its non-vertex angles are
congruent
Angle B and Angle C are Congruent
Theorem 18: If a quadrilateral is a kite, then its diagonals are perpendicular.
AD is perpendicular to BC
Theorem 19: If a quadrilateral is a kite, then the diagonals connecting the
vertices of the vertex angle are the perpendicular bisector of the other
diagonal.
Diagonal BC is the perpendicular bisector of diagonal AD
Theorem 20: If a quadrilateral is a kite, then the vertex angle of a kite are
bisected by its diagonal.
Diagonal AD bisects the angle CAB
Diagonal AD bisects the angle CDB

Area of kite: ⁄

e. Application
The teacher will give example problems to answer.
1. Name the pairs of consecutive congruent side
2. If LM = 7, what is MN?
3. If KN = 10.5, what is KL?
4. If LN = 7cm and KM = 13cm, what is the area?

f. Valuing
The Teacher asks students, do you think it is important for you to study these
quadrilaterals? Why or why not?

g. Generalization
The teacher will summarize the lesson.

V. EVALUATION
