Routinary Activity
Teacher’s Activity Learner’s Activity
1. Prayer

(The teacher will call a student to lead the (A student will lead the prayer.)
prayer.)

2. Greetings
“Good Afternoon Class!” “Good Afternoon Miss Hernandez!”

3. Classroom Management

“Before you take your seats, kindly pick up (The students will pick the trashes under their
the trashes under your chair and arrange chair and they will arrange their chairs
your chairs properly.” properly)

4. Attendance

(The teacher will check the attendance) (Each group leaders will report the attendance
of their members.)

A. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting the new lesson

“Now we are going to have a new topic for “Yesterday, we have learned that energy is
today. Under your Module 2: Work, Power and defined as the capability to do work. It is
Energy. But before anything else, let us have associated with the concept of Mechanical
the free sharing portion of our discussion. So, Energy, which is defined as the summation of
can anybody recall what he/she learned about Potential and Kinetic Energy.”
the topic yesterday?”

“Alright! Very Good!”

B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson

“Before we go to our main topic for today, let

us have first a motivational activity. This
activity is entitled as the “Word War”. The
mechanics of the game would be very simple,
you were going to pronounce the word given by
me, syllable per syllable. For example the word
“Honesty” will be pronounced as “Ho-nes-ty”.”

“Is that clear?” “Yes Ma’am crystal clear!”

“So I need two representatives each group that “Two students per group will stand up and
will going to play the game.” will go in front”

“Alright so first word, ENERGY “E-NER-GY

KINETIC ENERGY KI-NE-TIC-E-NER-GY
MECHANICAL ENERGY ME-CHA-NI-CAL-E-NER-GY
GRAVITATIONAL ENERGY GRA-VI-TA-TIO-NAL-E-NER-GY
ELASTIC ENERGY E-LAS-TIC-E-NER-GY
POTENTIAL ENERGY PO-TEN-TIAL-E-NER-GY
SOUND ENERGY SOUND-E-NER-GY
RADIANT ENERGY RA-DIANT-E-NER-GY
THERMAL ENERGY THER-MAL-E-NER-GY
ENERGY TRANSFORMATIONS E-NER-GY-TRANS-FOR-MA-TIONS
WORK, POWER AND ENERGY” WORK- PO-WER-AND-E-NER-GY”

“Alright! So now, I want you to reflect on that “Energy Transformations”

activity, then look at the illustration on the
board. Now, what do you think is our topic for
today?”

“Alright! Very Good!”

C. Presenting examples/ instances of the new lesson

“The Law of Conservation of Energy states that

the energy can neither be created nor destroyed,
it is merely converted from one form to
another.”

“Based on the definition of the Law of “Energy cannot be created nor destroyed,
Conservation of Energy in the monitor, what energy is simply transformed from one form
does it mean?” to another or transferred from one system to
another.”

“Alright! Very Good!”

“So by looking at the illustration posted on the “It shows energy transformations in a lit
board can anybody discuss how energy electrical lamp. It flows from a source
transformation happens here?” (serving as input system) into an output
system during transfers/or transformations.
The illustration also shows how an electrical
energy is converted or transformed into a light
and heat energy”

“Alright! Very Good!”

D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills

“Now, let us have our motivational activity for
today, your first activity for this Module, will be
entitled as the “Little shop of toys”. So I have
here three toys namely the yoyo, friction toy car
and deflated balloon. I will going to make three
teams this time, the group 1 will collaborate
with the group 2, next team would be the group
3 and 4 then last group will be the collaboration (The students will do the activity.)
of group 5 and 6. So first you were going to
operate each toy assigned in you then observe
closely, identify all forms of energy involved in
the process, trace the energy transformations on
the toy while in motion, and lastly answer the
following questions. So to put some thrill on
this activity, you were going to present your
answer, its either into a pageant, broadcasting or
quizbee.”

E. Developing Mastery

(The teacher will call the first team to present.) “Guide Questions in Activity 1:

GQ1. What does the toy or object do?

GQ2. What energy changes take place as this
toy or object operates?
GQ3. What forms does the stored energy start
out in?
GQ4. What form does the stored energy turn
into?
GQ5. What form is the output energy in when
it stops?

Answers to the Guide Questions:

Yoyo
GQ1. The yoyo can unroll down and roll up.
GQ.2. The elevated yoyo initially has
gravitational energy. When flicked down, it
unrolls changing its gravitational potential
energy into energies until it fully unrolls and
stops. When tugged back by the finger, it rolls
up again changing its kinetic energy back into
potential energy.
GQ.3. The yoyo started with stored
gravitational potential energy.
GQ.4. The yoyo ended with kinetic energy at
the bottom of the drop.
GQ.5 When the yoyo stopped, all its potential
and kinetic energies are converted into
thermal energy.

(The teacher will call the second team to present.) Friction Toy Car
GQ.1 The simple friction toy car is spring
driven. It has an axle that winds the spring
when back wheels of the car pushed
backwards against a high friction surface.
GQ.2 The elastic potential energy (spring) is
converted into kinetic energy of the moving
car. All through these processes, friction is at
work, and some of the potential and kinetic
energies are converted to heat and sound
energy.
GQ.3 The toy car started with elastic
potential energy when pulled back before
release.
GQ.4 The toy car moved with kinetic and
sound energy.
GQ.5 Some of the stored energy went into
moving the car and the rest turned into heat
and non- conservative work that eventually
stopped the car.

Deflated Balloon
(The teacher will call the last team to present.)
GQ.1 The balloon when inflated and then
released on its own, can fly off randomly. The
balloon may also be inflated, tied, attached to
an object, and then pricked to pop causing the
object unto which it is attached to move.
GQ.2 The balloon, when pumped or blown
with air, stretches and expands storing elastic
potential energy. The enclosed air particles
also possess potential and kinetic energies.
When released on its own and the balloon
deflates, air flows out the opening changing
some of the stored energy into kinetic energy
of the rushing air and some into mechanical
work on the balloon that is moving in the
other direction.
GQ.3 The balloon started with elastic
potential energy when inflated.
GQ.4 The balloon deflated and moved
randomly forward with kinetic and sound
energy as air rushes backward through
opening at the back.
GQ.5 Part of the stoned energy went into
moving the balloon and part of it turned into
heat due to friction which eventually caused
the balloon to stop moving.”

F. Finding practical applications of concepts and skills in daily living

“How can you apply our topic on your daily “We have learned for today that energy
living?” transformations starts with a flows from a
source (serving as input system) into an
output system during transfers/or
transformations.”

G. Making Generalization and abstractions about the lesson

“What have you learned today?” “Today, we have learned that energy cannot
be created nor destroyed, energy is simply
transformed from one form to another or
transferred from one system to another.”

H. Evaluating Learning
“Kindly explain how the following
illustrations shows energy transformations.

1.

Television: In a plugged television, electrical

energy is converted into radiant, heat and
sound energies.

2.

Photosynthesis: During photosynthesis, the

suns radiant energy is converted into chemical
energy.
