function.

Performance Standard: The learner is able to conduct systematically a mathematical investigation

involving polynomial functions in different fields.

At the end of 60-munites lesson, the learners are able to:

a. Illustrate polynomial function

b. Graphs polynomial function; and

c. Solves problems involving polynomial functions

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic/ Lesson: Polynomial Function

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

1. Greetings and Prayer

*Good morning class!

*Good morning ma’am Gulam.
*Good morning classmates. God Bless us!
*Everybody, please stand up and feel the
presence of the Lord. Student A, kindly lead a
prayer. *Amen

*Answer may vary

At the end of 60-munites lesson, the learners are

j (x )=5 x −2 +3 x −3 able to:
a. Illustrate polynomial function

 What did you observed in our activity? b. Graphs polynomial function; and

c. Solves problems involving polynomial

2. Reading of the objectives
functions
*Everybody, kindly read our objective

a. Presentation of the lesson

 Polynomial Function- a set of ordered pairs
(x,y) where
y= P(x)=a n x n+a n− 1 x n −1 + …a 2 x 2+a 1 x+¿ a ¿ ,
0

where n is non negative integer and a n, a n− 1,…

a n, a 0are constants. a n x n is called the leading
term; a 0 is called constant term; a n, a n− 1, …,
a 1 x+¿ a ¿ are called coefficients and a nis called
0

leading coefficient. If a n ≠ 0, then the non

negative integer exponent n of the leading term
is called the degree 1,2,3,4 and 5 are called
linear, quadratic, cubic, quartic and quintic.
Polynomials of the form y=a 0 are called
constant polynomials.
- Constant polynomials other than zero
polynomial are polynomials of degree zero.

Example of Polynomial function of a single

variable x:

a. (x) = (x+2)(x-4) has single roots

at x = -2
b. y=2 x 2-3x=2

Example:
y=3 is a constant polynomial.
y=0 is called a zero polynomials because zero
polynomial has no degree because it has non zero
terms.

 Polynomial expression- an algebraic

expression consisting of one or more terms
containing variables with non negative integer
exponents.

Example:
I. Direction: In a 1/2 crosswise, Sketch the
graph of the following polynomial functions.
Given also the estimated turning points and
range.
1. f(x)= x(x+3) (x+1) (x-2)
2. f(x)= (x+2) (x-1)
3. f(x)= ( x 2+ 9) (x-2)

V. ASSIGNMENT

In a 1/4 sheet of paper.

1. Sketch the graph of f(x)= (x+1)(2x-1)(x-2).
