1. Motivation
Title of the activity: “BROKEN HEART”
x 2 −4 (x +2)( x −2)
2. Reading of the objectives At the end of 60-munites lesson, the learners are
able to:
*Everybody, kindly read our objectives. a. Factors polynomials
b. Illustrate polynomial equation
c. Solve problems involving
polynomial equation
a. Presentation of the lesson
-This morning, we will discuss about factors
polynomial.
Factoring polynomial expression:
-In factoring a polynomial by using
synthetic division, remainder theorem,
and remainder theorem you are basically
looking for r such that P(r) =0 so that you
can apply the factor theorem, you are
basically looking of P(x). But how do
you get the value of r? You have to do a
“guess and check”for now. For this
lesson, if the leading coefficient is one,
then the candidates for r will be factors of
the constant term. However, in the next
lesson, you can utilize the rational root
theorem to guide you choosing what
number to try out for the values of r.
Example:
Factor x 2+ 7 x +¿ 6
Method 1: Factoring by synthetic division and
factor theorem.
1 0 -7 6 ⌊ 2¿ ¿
2 4 -6
______________________
1 2 -3 0 =P(r)= R
1 2 -3 ⌊ −1 ¿ ¿
