1 Contributions of Nursing Research in Philippine NURSING PRACTICE AND

ADMINISTRATION

a. Nursing research serves as basis to innovate nursing interventions in the care of Filipino
patients across life span and in various Filipino settings

Nursing research is an invaluable part of improving the care of Filipino patients across
their entire lifespan, regardless of what kind of environment they may find themselves in. It
involves identifying areas for improvement so that nurses are better able to diagnose and treat
illnesses, injuries, and other medical conditions. Through research, nurse practitioners can
discover new approaches and strategies for care delivery, whether it be through the use of more
effective medications or more creative healthcare programming (Tingen et al., 2013). The
results of these studies open the door to greater innovation in nursing practices and provide a
platform for evidence-based healthcare that can improve patient outcomes and satisfaction with
their quality of care. Research is ultimately a powerful tool in providing experienced and
knowledgeable Filipino nurses with the ability to better serve our dynamic patient population
across varied settings.

b. Nursing research allows nurses to address the changing health needs of Filipinos

Nursing research is an integral and essential part of meeting the needs of the Filipino
people in a rapidly changing world (Robredo et al., 2022). With rapidly advancing medical
technology and ever-shifting health outcomes, nurses possess the skills to investigate and
evaluate care options that best benefit Filipino patients and communities. Through research,
nurses are able to anticipate healthcare trends and develop interventions for new or complex
illnesses. Understanding how to apply best practices based on results from nursing research
helps create viable, long-term solutions that can drastically improve Filipino health outcomes.
The current evidence-based approaches available through nursing research enable nurses to
remain at the forefront of patient care and implementation of quality standards necessary to
ensure equity in Filipino healthcare delivery.

c. Nursing research is used as justification for the development of nursing policies and
programs

Nursing research provides valuable insights that inform evidence-based practice and
decision-making. Research data is especially important for developing healthcare policies and
programs as it can objectively demonstrate the effectiveness of a particular intervention on
patient outcomes (Stolley et al., 2000). Through the use of nursing research, nurses are able to
ensure that the programs and policies they create will have a positive impact on the health
outcomes of their patients. Additionally, nursing research provides nurses with an opportunity to
keep up-to-date with new technologies and trends in healthcare which can be integrated into
policy development to improve care delivery. Thus, nurses must continue to engage in
evidence-based practice, utilizing reliable sources such as nursing research to develop
solutions that address the ever-changing needs of patients.
d. Nursing research is used to ensure well-being of Filipino nuses mentally, physically,
emotionally, and even financially

The Philippines has long been known for its supply of qualified and competent nurses
who provide reliable and dependable services (Dela Cruz, 2021). However, what is not often
discussed is the well-being of Filipino nurses. Understanding how they experience their jobs
mentally, physically, emotionally, and even financially is highly important to help them reach
their peak performance. Nursing research is essential in determining if the current measures in
place, such as regulation and policy advancements, are beneficial or not. It can also identify
possible improvements to nurse satisfaction and patient experiences, which will ultimately help
create a more robust healthcare system for many years to come.
