1. Marriott uses human resource practices to be able to adapt with changes especially
with their target which are mostly millennials by reinventing itself to appeal the tastes
and preferences of Millennial generation travelers. Just like what mentioned in the
study, Marriot added more brands of hotels so that Marriott’s customers will have a
lot of options that would pass their tastes and preferences. Marriot also improved
their services, for instances, they changed to more comfortable beds, large
televisions, large public lounges, instead of traditional room service, online ordering,
and food delivery. They stepped up their gam with innovations to appeal the
Millennial Generation travelers.
One of human resource practices that Marriott uses is the utilization of its human
resources which is their employees’. They believe that if you take good care of your
people, they will also take good care of your customers in return. "We put people
first" is one of Marriott's core values that made Marriott as one of the Best
Companies to Work For according to Fortune’s Magazine. The way Marriott manage
and take care of its employees makes them a desirable company to work for.
Marriott gives lot of benefits and creating a healthy working environment by hearing
the opinions of its employees and celebrate the excellences of outstanding
employees each year. Because of Marriott’s care to its employees, they can have a
good financial performance and customer’s satisfaction.
2. HRM plays a vital role as one of the foundations of business for Marriott to survive,
become effective and gain competitiveness in the business environment. It assists
Marriott in keeping up with the fast-paced industry.
HRM is behind the strategic planning to appeal with the Millennials’ tastes and
preferences. They are behind the creative and innovative idea for Marriott to strive in
the industry. HRM is behind all the training, orientation, and rewarding of the
employees’ and giving benefits aside from strategizing within the company. With
HRM Marriott is able to make a competitive advantage.
