Overview

Energy efficiency is a tool that focuses on behavioural patterns of consumption (kWh) and
demand (kVA), and tariff structure (e.g. Time-of-Use tariffs) to increase efficiency and decrease
costs, which does not require capex investment upfront.
EY’s Analytics and Dashboarding system uses a top-down approach, whereby detailed data of
any utility type is obtained from smart meters or Internet of Things (IoT) devices and is thereby
analysed.
Key features of Energy efficiency are as follows :
 Efficiencies can be driven by people, process, technology and governance.
 Supported by Global Manufacturing Energy Management Solution (MEMS™) from
which EY uses equipment layer data to help manage energy and water efficiency.
 In South Africa, Energy Efficiency projects implemented by companies can qualify for an
income tax rebate, based on kWh saved over a set timeframe.
Value proposition

Energy Efficiency delivers following benefits to clients :

 Decrease costs and Increase revenue.
 Drive improvements in efficiency, brand, innovation, greenhouse gas emissions and water
conservation.
Deployment model

Deployment model for Energy Efficiency is as follows :

 Data Analytics: Managed service
 MEMS: Sale of system and support
 Tax incentive projects: feasibility studies, energy audits, energy use modelling
