Book review

Now i am writting about the one of the most famous hungarian, historical book. Let me
introduce Gárdonyi Géza and his book, called Egri csillagok. Gardonyi was a popular writter
at the beginnig of 19th century. He published this book in 1901. The story is set at the castle of
Eger, in the 16th century, when the enermous Turkish attacked this castle.
At the beginnig of the story we could see the two young main characters, Bornemissza
Gergely and Cecey Éva. By this time, the Turkish army had conquered the big part of
Hungary. These two characters were captured by Turkish, but Hungarian saved them. They
stole Jurmudzsák (Turkish soldier) jewellery. The time passed and the main characters got
adult, they had some smaller adventures and they had a child. Bornemissza went to Eger to
defend the castle, but during it Jurmudzsák stole his child to take back his jewellery. There
were some battle between Turkish and Hungarian in Eger and l loved that scenes. Women
also fought and used special thing to beat the enemy, for example they made a big wooden
wheel, they made it fire and pushed it to the attacking soldiers. Turkish army had more chance
to win, but fortunately brave Hungarian won, Jurmdzsák died and at the end of the book
Bornemissza got back his child.
Gardonyi describes the battle aganist Eger really well. He also made an amazing story about
Bornemissza Gergely. The writter usually makes the readers frightened and excited as well. I
loved the book, especially the excited scenes, for example that parts of the book when it
shows the attackings.
I can recommend it to everybody because it has a lot of types of parts, like action, drama or
romantic. It has around 600 pages, but i think it worth to read it, because you will get an
unforgettable experience.
