General information about the courses
Course offer
We offer courses for language levels A1-C1 with four teaching units per week (one teaching
unit equals 45 minutes) held by trained language instructors and tailored for the needs of in-
ternational scholars. Their partners and spouses are also very welcome to join the courses.
We try to keep the group size small (max. 15 participants) in order to create a comfortable
atmosphere.
The courses start from October 24th (please refer to the program to find out the exact start-
ing date for each course) and finish at the beginning of February 2023. If not stated other-
wise, the instructors will announce the necessary material during the first lecture. You will re-
ceive the information about the access to the course a few days before the course starts
directly from the instructors by e-mail.

Terms of cancellation
Your registration is binding. You can only resign from your registration free of charge until
October 21st 2022. Courses can be cancelled within the first week after the course has
started (until October 31st 2022). A cancellation fee (50% of the participation fee) will be
charged. A later cancellation is not possible: In this case the whole participation fee will be
charged.
The course fees are solely used to cover the teachers’ fees. Unfortunately, we have to use
strict terms of cancellation since the courses have to be self-financing. Thank you for your
understanding.
The Welcome Centre reserves the right to cancel language courses with insufficient demand.
Either in this case you can attend another language course offered by the Welcome Centre
or you receive the payed course fee back.
General information about the courses
Certificate
Course participants will receive a certificate from the University of Konstanz at the
end of the semester if they attend the course regularly (absence less than 4 lectures/8 teach-
ing units in a course with 26 lectures/52 teaching units). The certificate states the participa-
tion and the language level of the course according to the Common European
Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Furthermore, the course require-
ments by the teacher apply to receiving a certificate.
Please note that he German courses of the University of Konstanz are not accepted
as proof of language skills for the Immigration Office. The Immigration Office only ac-
cepts proof from recognized certification institutions such as the Goethe-Institut or TELC.
If you are unsure which language level is the right one for you, a C-test might give you (and
us) a first idea. We will send you the test – which is easily done within 25 minutes – per e-
mail. Please send it back to us after you are done. We than recommend you the course
which might be the best for you. If you realize that you have chosen a level, which is too high
or too low for you after the course has started, you can change to a different course. Please
just talk to your language instructor and write an e-mail to daf.welcome.centre@uni-kon-
stanz.de.
