Teaching method for inspiring the Students of the Future

Joe Ruhl

This Teaching method for inspiring the Students of the Future is lectured by Mr. Joe
Ruhl, a teacher who has 37 years of experience in teaching. He was lecturing about the teaching
methods for inspiring the students of the future. He shares that in his experience, It bother him
that he love lecturing but his students don't always love it. So the question occured in his mind.
"What really inspires them?". A years ago, while he was in the cafeteria while observing the
students who are busy with their lunch, a tought occurs in his mind. Students love having
choices.and he talked to himself "Self maybe that would work in the classroom, Let kids have
choices"

So he converted his classroom to a situation where students was that big part of the
room along with the 5 c's: Choice, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Creativity. Over 10 years ago
was those last forces essential 21st century skills that kids should learn. He believed that our
brains are wire for the five c's, since they're wired for the five c's, that authentic learning will
happen when kids are allowed engaging in the five c's. He discussed that this requires a
classroom set up base on the five c's requires a shift. From being a teacher centered to students
centered. So, in his 9th grade biology classes, he divided the school year up into two to three
weeks minutes at the beginning of all the smorgasbord. They are two that are not required: one
is test at the end of the unit and the other one is computer tutorial. For him this method of
teaching, he have found In his 37 years of experience in teaching is not only effective but it's
allow him to sit down with small groups of students while in team teaching with that fleet of 10
computers with gives him the opportunity to sit down with a group of kids and respond to
question that the student initiated.

He also discussed about the 2 Loves: 1. The The teachers love for the subjects. and passion for
the subject 2. The teacher genuine love for the kids. C.s Lewis wrote in his book "the four love"
about the teacher love for the kids is genuine, decisional, put-the-other-person kind of Love: It
motivates and inspires in a powerful way.

I am feeling happy after I watched the video because as a future educator it made me
learn some things how students wanted to learn.. I learn that students wants to have choices
according to their standard of learning. We have a different standard of thinking that
sometime, we the students can't keep up in the standards of our teachers understanding so we
have some difficulties on understanding our lessons that lead us, the students be bored. By
watching this video of My. Joe Ruhl, I realized some things. I realized that six c's is very
important. Our brain are wired to the five c's and especially the most the sixth c's which is
caring. It is the most effective, most powerful, most inspiring way of teaching,as a future
educator it is the task of a teacher get his/her students attention, motivating them and also
inspiring them. Motivating them to do more and to do their best and also inspiring them that
they can do it, they can achieve it.

As a future educator, My overall learning to this video is we have to love our subjects
and the passionate to our subjects. We have to be creative on how we the learning to our
students. On how make them cooperate to learn in the subject. We have to be passionate to
our professions. We have to be ready to all the responsibilities we will be facing. And most
especially the genuine love for the kids. How much we can sacrifice for their futures. How
passionate we are to teach them patiently. And also, We should have a good relationship to our
students. We should have to make them trust us, that they can lean on us everytime they have
difficulties in their studies. The students will not remember the lessons we are teaching. Our
students going to remember us on how we are transparent and that is your real. You have the
ability to laugh of yourself and to laugh with them.
