 Urjit Patel Who served as the 24th Governor of RBI (Reserve Bank of
India) has recently appointed as the Vice President of Asian Infrastructure
Investment Bank.

Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank

 The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is a multilateral

development bank with a mission to improve social and economic outcomes
in Asia.
 It is headquartered in Beijing and began its operations in January 2016.

worldwide.

Actor Sonu Sood as a state icon for Punjab.

रूप में र्नयुक्तक्त र्ापस ले ली है ।
  Punjab Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Dr S Karuna Raju confirmed that ECI
has withdrawn the appointment of Actor Sonu Sood as a state icon of Punjab
on January 4, 2022.

 The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) set up an internal “FinTech department”

for focusing on the dynamically changing financial landscape in India.
 भारतीय ररजर्ि बैंक (RBI) ने भारत में गर्तिील रूप से बदलते र्र्त्तीय पररदृश्य पर ध्यान
केंर्ित करने के र्लए एक आों तररक "र्िनटे क र्र्भाग" की स्थापना की।

When was this department set up?

 As per RBI circular, the FinTech department was set up on January 4, 2022.
 आरबीआई सकुिलर के अनुसार, र्िनटे क र्र्भाग की स्थापना 4 जनर्री, 2022 कह हुई थी।
 Decision to set up the department was taken in a bid to further focus on the
area and innovation in the FinTech sector in keeping pace with dynamically
changing landscape.
 गर्तिील रूप से बदलते पररदृश्य के साथ तालमेल रखते हुए र्िनटे क क्षेत्र में क्षेत्र और
नर्ाचार पर ध्यान केंर्ित करने के र्लए र्र्भाग की स्थापना का र्नणि य र्लया गया था।

What is the purpose of this department?

 FinTech department was created for following purposes:

 To give a thrust to fintech innovation/ र्िनटे क इनहर्ेिन पर जहर दे ने के र्लए

  To look into regulations/ र्नयमहों कह दे खने के र्लए
 To promote innovation in the sector/ क्षेत्र में नर्ाचार कह बढार्ा दे ने के र्लए
 To identify the challenges and opportunities associated with the sector
as well as to address such challenges/ सेक्टर से जु डी चुनौर्तयहों और अर्सरहों
की पहचान करने के साथ-साथ ऐसी चुनौर्तयहों का समािान करने के र्लए

Establishment of FinTech Unit

 RBI had set up a FinTech Unit in the Department of Regulation after June
2018 to act as a central point of contact in bank for all activities associated to
fintech.
 आरबीआई ने जू न 2018 के बाद र्िनटे क से जु डी सभी गर्तर्र्र्ियहों के र्लए बैंक में सोंपकि के
केंिीय र्बोंदु के रूप में कायि करने के र्लए र्र्र्नयमन र्र्भाग में एक र्िनटे क इकाई की
स्थापना की थी।

Upgradation of FinTech Unit

 Now, RBI had upgraded the “FinTech Unit” into a “FinTech department”
with the aim of promoting innovation in the sector, identifying the challenges
and opportunities related with it as well as addressing them in a time bound
manner.
 अब, आरबीआई ने क्षेत्र में नर्ाचार कह बढार्ा दे ने, इससे जु डी चुनौर्तयहों और अर्सरहों की
पहचान करने के साथ-साथ उन्ें समयबद्ध तरीके से सोंबहर्ित करने के उद्दे श्य से "र्िनटे क
यूर्नट" कह "र्िनटे क र्र्भाग" में अपग्रेड र्कया था।

 The Reserve Bank of India extended the card-on-file (CoF) tokenization

deadline by 6 months to June 30, 2022, the earlier deadline was December
31, 2021.
 Corporate houses, which are not allowed to own a bank, can now pick up
a 15% stake in commercial banks through their non-banking financial
companies.
 The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the Monetary Authority of Singapore
(MAS) have announced a project under which the two central banks will link
their respective fast payment systems viz. Unified Payments Interface
(UPI) and PayNow.
 The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has allowed scheduled payments banks
and small finance banks (SFBs) to conduct government business.
 The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) issued the ‘Draft Master Direction on
Minimum Capital Requirements for Operational Risk’ to replace existing
 approaches for measuring minimum operational risk capital requirements of
banks with a new Basel-III standardised approach: All existing
approaches — Basic Indicator Approach (BIA), The Standardised Approach
(TSA)/Alternative Standardised Approach (ASA) and Advanced Measurement
Approach (AMA) for measuring minimum operational risk capital requirements
are proposed to be replaced by the new standardised approach (Basel-III
Standardised Approach).

SBI Ecowrap: India’s Real GDP projected to grow at around 9.5% in FY22

 The economic research team of the State Bank of India (SBI) released its
Ecowrap report.
 भारतीय स्ट्े ट बैंक (SBI) की आर्थि क अनुसोंिान टीम ने अपनी Ecowrap ररपहटि जारी की।
 In the report, SBI researchers have revised upwards the real GDP of India to
around 9.5 per cent in 2021-22 (FY22) on a year-on-year (YoY).
 ररपहटि में, एसबीआई के िहिकताि ओों ने साल-दर-साल (YoY) पर 2021-22 (FY22) में भारत
की र्ास्तर्र्क जीडीपी कह लगभग 9.5 प्रर्तित तक सोंिहर्ित र्कया है ।

  IndianOil has committed to support the National TB elimination Program
(NTEP) in India by providing an enabling environment through integrated and
prioritised intervention with City Coordination Committees, District Health
Societies, Technical support groups, etc., in each of the 75 districts of Uttar
Pradesh and 23 districts in Punjab.

 The program's key objective will be to screen and test the entire population
of UP & Punjab every year for the next three years.

Reciprocal Access Agreement (RAA) to counter China’s expansionary

 According to Leonodios Kostrikis, a professor of biological sciences at

University of Cyprus, a strain of Covid-19 combining delta and omicron was
found in Cyprus.
 साइप्रस र्र्श्वर्र्द्यालय में जै र्र्क र्र्ज्ञान के प्रहिेसर र्लयहनहर्डओस कहक्तिर्कस के अनुसार,
साइप्रस में डे ल्टा और ओमाइक्रहन के सोंयहजन र्ाले कहर्र्ड -19 का एक स्ट्रेन पाया गया।
 The discovery has been named “deltacron” because of identification of
omicron-like genetic signatures within delta genomes.
 डे ल्टा जीनहम के भीतर ओमाइक्रहन जै से आनुर्ोंर्िक हस्ताक्षरहों की पहचान के कारण इस खहज
कह "डे ल्टाक्रॉन" नाम र्दया गया है ।

sea trials.

 It is planned to be inducted on Aug 22.
 इसे 22 अगस्त कह िार्मल करने की यहजना है ।
 The 40,000-tonne aircraft carrier is the largest and most complex warship
to be built in India.

 The indigenously built India Coast Guard Ship ‘Sarthak’ was commissioned
and dedicated to the nation at Goa: ‘Sarthak’ is the fourth in the series of 5
Offshore Patrol Vessels being built by Goa Shipyard for the Indian Coast

World Hindi Conference that was held in 1975.

Assam govt signed an MoU with NDDB to set up Joint Venture worth Rs.2000
Crore for dairy development
असम सरकार र्े िे यरी र्र्कास के र्लए 2000 करोड़ रुपये के संयुि उद्यम की स्थापर्ा के
र्लए एर्िीिीबी के साथ एक समझौता ज्ञापर् पर हस्ताक्षर र्कए
  Assam Government signed an MoU with National Dairy Development
Board (NDDB) for holistic dairy development to set up Joint Venture (JV)
worth 2000 crores which aims at processing 10 Lakh litres of milk through 6
new milk processing units in 7 years.

 Uttar Pradesh government declared four villages across the Nepal border
in the Bahraich district as revenue villages.
 उत्तर प्रदे ि सरकार ने बहराइच र्जले में नेपाल सीमा के चार गाों र्हों कह राजस्व गाों र् घहर्र्षत
र्कया है ।
 The four villages are Bhavanipur, Tedhia, Dhakia and Bichhia.
 चार गाों र् भर्ानीपुर, ते र्डया, ढार्कया और र्बर्छया हैं ।
 They are located in Mihinpurwa tehsil of the Bahraich district.
 र्े बहराइच र्जले के र्मर्हनपुरर्ा तहसील में क्तस्थत हैं ।

 Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has announced 50% rebate in power

bills of private tube wells used by farmers in the state with effect from
January 2022.

force in India, to possess modern American weaponry.

 Government has decided to equip the police force in Jammu & Kashmir with
Sig Sauer MPX 9mm American pistols and American Sig Sauer rifles, in
order to modernise it.

Andhra Pradesh announces increase in retirement age of State govt

employees from 60 years to 62 years
आं ध्र प्रदे ि र्े राज्य सरकार के कमवचाररयों की सेर्ार्र्र्ृर्त्त आयु 60 र्र्व से बढ़ाकर 62 र्र्व
करर्े की घोर्णा की
  Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S . Jagan Mohan Reddy has announced
an increase in the retirement age of state government employees from 60
years to 62 years.
 आों ध्र प्रदे ि के मुख्यमोंत्री र्ाई.एस. जगन महहन रे ड्डी ने राज्य सरकार के कमिचाररयहों की
सेर्ार्नर्ृर्त्त की आयु 60 र्र्षि से बढाकर 62 र्र्षि करने की घहर्षणा की है ।
 The Chief Minister also announced a fitment of 23 percent, when the new pay
scales shall come into force from January 2022.
 मुख्यमोंत्री ने 23 प्रर्तित के र्निाि रण की भी घहर्षणा की, जब जनर्री 2022 से नए र्ेतनमान
लागू हहोंगे।
 The monetary benefits will be applied from 1-4-2020 and the enhanced pay
scale along with pending DAs will be effective from January 2022.

 Andhra Pradesh govt has issued orders for implementation of 10% EWS
reservation in all government employment and education in accordance
with 103rd Constitution Amendment Act 2019 that provides for the
creation of the special EWS quota to be implemented by the state.
 Earlier, The Maharashtra government has informed that the Maratha
community can avail of benefits under the 10 percent EWS (economically
weaker sections) quota in government jobs and education.
