A EXCITING NEWS!

From next year, we are adding two new routes. Twice a week, we will fly to the beautiful
Atlantic coast of Morocco, to Essaouira and, three days a week, you can fly with us to the
amazing Cape Verde islands off the west coast of Africa. To celebrate this exciting news,
we are offering all tickets to these destinations at much less than the normal price – if you
book this week. You can fly to Morocco for just £30.99 one way or to Cape Verde for an
amazing £84.59. Remember, this offer only lasts a week so book next year’s holiday today.

1 The purpose of this advert is to

A encourage people to book holidays very quickly.
B present new flights that customers can go on this week.
C show how much cheaper this airline’s tickets are compared to other airlines.

B TRAVELLING TO SYRACUSE

There are many ways to reach Syracuse in Sicily. Several budget airlines fly direct to
Catania, just 60 km north of Syracuse. From there, you can get a bus, train or taxi. This
is the cheapest and quickest option but there are more exciting alternatives. One idea is to
fly into Rome and then take the overnight train. Wake up to stunning views of Mount Etna
and relax on the train until you arrive in the centre of Syracuse at about 10 a.m. Finally,

how about combining your trip with a visit to Malta, a fascinating island, just a four-hour ferry
ride to the south?

2 The writer wants to

A suggest the best way of getting to Syracuse.
B give information about different ways of getting to Syracuse.
C encourage other people to go to Syracuse.

C WHY SO NEGATIVE?

I can’t understand some of the comments on this page. I visited Albania in July this year
and it was beautiful. The people were friendly, prices were low, buses were comfortable
and my hotels were clean and pleasant. The best thing is that it is much quieter than
Greece or Spain. From our hotel, we could see the island of Corfu across the sea but,
fortunately, we couldn’t hear the loud music and noisy tourists. I hope Albania doesn’t
change in the future. For me, it is perfect as it is.

3 The text is
A a message from someone to their friend.
B a review on a travel website.
C an advert for holidays to Albania.
