The whole life of the great freedom fighter, Subhash Chandra Bose has been abbreviated through
pictures in the book. The book will be very interesting for children.
He was born on 23 January 1897 in Cuttack.

His father’s name was Janaki Nath and


his mother’s name was Prabhavati He entered the Baptist Mission's Protestant
Devi. He had 10 brothers and 3 sisters. European School in Cuttack in Jan 1902.

Deshbandhu had taken up the job of a principal to make his living. But after

bagged almost all the seats. Deshbandhu became the mayor and Subhash
became the Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O.). Things developed under them very
quickly. Subhas, as the C.E.O. personally inspected the work of the municipal
staff on the streets.

January, he led some processions but
was caught by the police and their lathis.

He was sent to jail in Rangoon. He fell sick. He was sent to


Vienna for treatment. There his health became better. He
toured many countries of Europe to promote the cause of
Indian freedom. He got the message that his father was
dying. He returned to India without the Government’s
permission. He was arrested for that reason. By the time
he was free, his father was dead. Thus, he didn’t go from
Bombay to Calcutta, and returned to Europe. He was
elected President of the Congress.
He decided that since the war in Europe was eminent, they could declare war on Europe. But due to
Gandhi’s principles, he resigned.

After his resignation, he formed a forward bloc, which decided that they would destroy the Holwell monument. But before they could do
so, he was imprisoned. He got out of the jail disguised as a bearded Muslim in a black car. He organized the Indian national army with the
help of Indian prisoners of war and formed the Indian independence league. He met Hitler and sought for his help. But Germany was too
far off to wage a war against the British in India. He travelled by a German submarine to Japan. From Tokyo he came to Singapore, where
he was received by Rash Behari Bose and other revolutionaries. Here Subhash raised an army with Indian prisoners of war captured by the
Japanese. He also formed the Rani of Jhansi regiment with Indian girls, to nurse the soldiers.

At his call, the Indian residents donated generously for the cause.

freedom forces. Imphal was completely surrounded by the I.N.A. forces
and the Japanese. But the British resistance in Imphal was strong
and unyielding.

The Japanese were retreating everywhere. The I.N.A. depended


on Japan for arms and food. Its supplies were cut. The heavy
monsoon burst on them. The British thrust forward. The I.N.A.
had to give up along with the Japanese and retreat. The British

Netaji boarded a Japanese plane for some unknown destination
with Col. Habibur Rahman.
