Subject:

The MES originated 9.6K Fax service problem that has been seen on all three types of Fleet (Sailor
Fleet77, Sailor Fleet55 and Sailor Fleet33) in some Ocean Regions and by some LES’ has now
been identified.

The LES’ affected has been identified to be the ones where the LES ID least significant digit equals
0 (zero), e.g. 50h, For your information, this LES ID is not to be compared to the three digits LES
Access Code, which is shown in the terminal Handset! The LES ID is not seen or used by the end
users, but only internally in the terminal and in the Inmarsat infrastructure.

It has been agreed with Inmarsat to provide a temporary work around for the problem where a new
LES ID will de issued for the LES in question.

First LES ID to be re-numbered is France Telecom in POR. The new LES ID is scheduled to be
provided September 20th, 2006. The new LES ID for France Telecom in POR will be 88h. This will
cause a new Bulletin Board, sent out from the NCS’, and this Bulletin Board will automatically be
downloaded by the terminals.

Second LES to be re-numbered is MCN Beijing in IOR. The new LES ID is scheduled to be provided
September 25th, 2006. The new LES ID for MCN Beijing in IOR will be 89 h. This will cause yet a
new Bulletin Board, sent out from the NCS’, and this Bulletin Board will automatically be downloaded
by the terminals.

The re-numbering from Inmarsat does also have an impact on Terminals/Electronic units of our
other products, the Thrane/Sailor Mini-M (TT-3060A and B, TT-3062B and D, TT-3064A and

TT-3066A) and the Thrane M4 Messenger (TT-3080A). See action further down in this document.

Priority:

» LOW: For information purpose only – no direct action needed!

Identification:

Fleet:

Sailor Fleet77 and Sailor Fleet55 running BDU SW ver. 1.03 or earlier could be affected. SW ver.
1.04 or later will without further action show correct LES name. See action with more information
below.

Mini-M:

Thrane/Sailor Mini-M’s (TT-3060A and B, TT-3062B and D, TT-3064A and TT-3066A) all SW
versions will be affected. See action with more information below.

GAN M4:

Thrane M4 Messenger (TT-3080A) all SW versions will be affected. See action with more
information below.

Action:

Fleet:

As the Sailor Fleet 77, Sailor Fleet 55 and Sailor Fleet 33 are decoding the LES Access codes to
match the LES names in the Fleet BDU SW (at least since BDU SW ver. 1.04 and later) the
re-numbered LES’ will automatic show the correct LES name. No further action needed!

BDU SW ver. 1.03 or earlier, might not display the right LES name. As it is not possible to edit the
LES list/LES name in these early SW versions, we are recommending that the BDU SW is being
upgraded. When SW upgraded the Terminal will automatic show the correct LES name.

Mini-M:

Thrane/Sailor Mini-M’s are decoding the LES ID to match the LES names in the Mini-M Terminal
SW (all SW versions) the re-numbered LES’ will be indicated only by its LES Access code. In order
to change the Access Code to the previous shown LES name the procedure is as follows:

1. Press 2nd and 1 Menu.

2. Scroll down to Config, press OK.

3. Scroll down to LES, press OK.

4. Accept Default LES by pressing OK.

5. Scroll down to Pacific, press OK.

6. Scroll down to 011:0, press 2nd and ↑Edit.

7. Type FRANCE TELEC, press OK.

8. Press Exit.

9. Scroll down to Indian, press OK.

10. Scroll down to 868:0, press 2nd and ↑Edit.

11. Type MCN Beijing, press OK.

12. Press Exit five (5) times.

M4 Messenger:

As the Thrane M4’s are decoding the LES ID to match the LES names in the M4 Terminal SW (all
SW versions) the re-numbered LES’ will be indicated only by its LES Access code. Unfortunately the
M4 do not have a LES Edit function to correct LES Access code to LES name. Based on this all M4
terminals will display “011:0” if logged on to France Telecom in POR and “868:0” if logged on to
MCN Beijing in IOR! The terminal will work as before only difference is the name displayed!
