INTRODUCTION

Basically, the PH value is a detection how water is hard or soft. The pH of pure water is 7. Liquid with a
pH lower than 7 is acidic, and with a pH greater than 7 is basic. Alkalinity is a measure of the ability of
the water to resist a change in pH that would tend to make the water more acidic. The measurement of
alkalinity and pH is needed to control the corrosiveness of the water. Turbidity is the cloudiness of a fluid
caused by large numbers of individual particles that are generally invisible to the uncovered eye, similar
to smoke in air. The measurement of turbidity is a main test of water quality.

The microcontroller based system will help us in detecting the PH scale and turbidity of fish ponds and
sending the result over a mobile device

PROBLEM STATEMENT

The problems of the existing manual system of testing include among others the following:

 Increase in mortality rate of aquatic organisms

 Inefficient way to manage the record

Aims and Objectives:

 To measure different turbidity values of liquids

 To measure various ph levels of liquids to determine the turbidity in liquid
 To investigate the water quality of pond and.
 To create a user application where users can monitor his/her fish ponds at every hour.

Methodology:

In this, we present the theory on real time monitoring of water quality in IoT environment. The overall
block diagram of the proposed method is explained. Each and every block of the system is explained in
detail.

pH SENSOR

Block diagram of our project

In this proposed block diagram consist of several sensors (temperature, pH, turbidity,) is connected to
core controller. The core controller are accessing the sensor values and processing them to transfer the
data through internet. Ardunio is used as a core controller. The sensor data can be viewed on the internet
Wi-Fi system.

LITERATURE REVIEW

This project highlights the entire water quality monitoring methods, sensors, embedded design, and
information dissipation procedure, role of government, network operator and villagers in ensuring proper
information dissipation. It also explores the Sensor Cloud domain. While automatically improving the
water quality is not feasible at this point, efficient use of technology and economic practices can help
improve water quality and awareness among people

INSTRUMENTS

Hardware component

1. Computer / laptop with minimum specification of Windows 7 and 2GB RAM with internet
connection
2. Arduino Microcontroller: Arduino is a microcontroller board based on the ATmega328P. It
has 14 digital input/output pins (of which 6 can be used as PWM outputs), 6 analog inputs, a
16 MHz quartz crystal, a USB connection, a power jack, an ICSP header and a reset button. It
contains everything needed to support the microcontroller. Arduino Software (IDE) was the
reference versions of Arduino, now evolved to newer releases. The Uno board is the first in a
series of USB Arduino boards, and the reference model for the Arduino platform; for an
extensive list of current, past or outdated boards see the Arduino index of boards.
3. pH sensor: The pH of a solution is the measure of the acidity or alkalinity of that solution.
The pH scale is a logarithmic scale whose range is from 0-14 with a neutral point being 7.
Values above 7 indicate a basic or alkaline solution and values below 7 would indicate an
acidic solution. It operates on 5V power supply and it is easy to interface with Arduino. The
normal range of pH is 6 to 8.5.
4. Turbidity sensor and The Turbidity sensor circuit in Microcontroller : use for measuring
turbidity
5. LCD I2C Module and The LCD circuit in microcontroller : use for displaying results
6. Cables for connection such as power.
7. WI-FI AND GPRS MODULE: The Wi-Fi Module is a self-contained SOC with integrated
TCP/IP protocol stack that can give any microcontroller access to your Wi-Fi network.
8. ponds for testing

SOFTWARES used in this project include:

1. ARDUINO IDE.
2. JAVA OR KOTLIN

RESULTS
We have identified a suitable implementation model that consists of different sensor devices and other
modules; in this implementation model we are to use ATMEGA 328 with Wi-Fi module. Inbuilt ADC
and Wi-Fi module connects the embedded device to internet. Sensors are connected to Arduino UNO
board for monitoring, ADC will convert the corresponding sensor reading to its digital value and from
that value the corresponding environmental parameter will be evaluated. After sensing the data from
different sensor devices, which are placed in particular area of interest. The sensed data will be
automatically sent to the web server, when a proper connection is established with sever device.

CONCLUSION

A pH meter gives a result solution as how acidic or alkaline in liquid. Turbidity sensor is useful for
measuring water quality measurement in effluent measurement, sediment research, and laboratory
research in river, streams, sea, and waste water. Turbidity sensor consists of a photodiode detector and
infrared LED as a light source. Limit measurement of turbidity sensor is between 0 NTU to 3000 NTU.
Turbidity sensor is not affected by light around the room.
