PHILIPPINE TRADITIONAL GAME

BAHAYBAHAYAN

Bahay- bahayan is a role-playing

Filipino game where the main purpose
is to simulate or re-enact a real home
with a family member.

This game needs 4-6 members, where

the players need to act like a father,
mother, sister, brother, youngest or
sometimes even a pet.
Preparation
Players
build their “house” using mattresses, tables,
chairs, and any thing around the house when played
inside. When played outside, we would usually gather
banana leaves, coconut fronds, sticks, cardboards,
sacks, stones, and pebbles, or any other material
available to build a house.

The money was made of plant leaves or paper, they

also use tin cans, sticks, etc. as their kitchen utensils

Players also performed activities that real families do

like cooking, doing household chores, going to work and
go to shopping. In general, children use their
imagination in using regular things as house items.

GAMEPLAY
The participants now play the role of the assigned
characters. The house helpers will clean the house; the
father will try to get money (sometimes leaves, candy
wrappers, bottle crowns, etc.) the mother will cook;
the children place and follow their parents, etc.)
