I. ANALYSIS (2 items x 10 points)

Analyze and relate the study of art to the following works/theories.

A. Imitationism

The image demonstrates that it is a man-made structure. Plato defines

,imitationism as the philosophy of beauty
Which is why he proposes three types of Worlds: The World of Being, the
World of Becoming, and the World of Art. The picture belongs to the World
of Becoming since it is a statue, which is a tangible object that we can hold or
touch. When an artist’s vision becomes an existing material, it enters the
World of Becoming. There would be no material things in the World of Being
since it is the reality and the idea of beauty. However, in the World of Art is
when a painter paints any form of a physical thing, it becomes an imitation or
.illusion

The image shown in the artwork is a representation of historical events. The artist
wants to express his thoughts and ideas through this painting in order to present to
all those who view it what happened in the past. In this picture, Andres Bonifacio
and the Katipuneros are ripping a piece of paper that indicates they are rebelling
against the colonial administration. “Punitin ang Sedula” is a famous phrase that is
still in use today. Even though I was a college student, I saw how the heroes of the
Philippines fought for our nation and our independence. That is why
representationism in the arts is important because it helps us recognize what is
actual events happened in the past.
