Community Dynamics and Community Action

Community - is a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic
in common.
- It is social unit (a group of living things) with commonality such as place, norms,
religion, values, customs, or identity.
- In biology, an interacting group of various species in a common location. For example, a
forest of trees and undergrowth plants, inhabited by animals and rooted in soil containing
bacteria and fungi, constitutes a biological community.

Communities are complex systems that can be characterized by community structure (the
number and size of populations and their interactions) and community dynamics (how the
members and their interactions change over time). Understanding community structure and
dynamics allows us to minimize impacts on ecosystems and manage ecological communities we
benefit from.
