A mirror is any surface that reflects light. There were no materials used for this
project.

Aspect 1

Research question: How does the distance

of the object affects the height of the
image as it goes away from the focal point
and close to the mirror from the focal
point?

Introduction

Controlled variables

● Focal length (15cm)

Dependent variable

● Size/Height of the image

Hypothesis

When the distance of the object moves

away from the focal point the size of the
image starts to decrease and when it moves
closer to the mirror from the focal point it
will reduce in size.

CONCLUSION AND EVALUATION

Object height 10 cm
Object distance Focal length Image distance Image height
70 cm 35 cm 70 cm -9.9 cm
50 cm 35 cm 116.9 cm -23.3 cm
20 cm 35 cm 46.5 cm 23.3 cm
10 cm 35 cm 13.7 cm 13.8 cm

Object height 20.3 cm

Object distance Focal length Image distance Image height
70 cm 35 cm 70 cm -20.2 cm
50 cm 35 cm 116.9 cm -47.4 cm
20 cm 35 cm 46.5 cm 47.3 cm
10 cm 35 cm 13.7 cm 27.9 cm
No matter the height of the object. The distance of the image will always be the same to
the same distance you put the object if the focal point remains the same.

If the object is nearer to the mirror than the focal point, there is always going to be a real
image. But, for this case, if the object is farther than the focal point, the image is always
going to be a virtual one.
