 In Chhattisgarh, Bastar Dussehra is dedicated

to Goddess Danteshwari, the supreme power


and revered deity of all existing tribes. The
divine goddess is worshipped at Jagdalpur's
Danteshwari temple. The festival is known to
be celebrated over the course of 72 days,
making it one of India's longest festivals. This
is unlike any other Dussehra celebration in
India, which commemorates Rama's victory
over Ravana.
 The Bastar Dussehra festival is one of
Chhattisgarh's most popular festivals,
celebrated with zeal by the locals. It is said
that Maharaja Purushaottam Deo initiated the
celebration of this festival for the first time in
Chhattisgarh in the early 15th century. While
Dussehra is a significant festival celebrated
across the country, the Bastar Dussehra is
marked by a completely different set of
festivities.
 A festival commemorating the supreme
power of the Goddess Danteswari, during
which the people of Bastar organise
numerous special worship ceremonies at the
famous Danteswari temple in Jagdalpur.
Furthermore, during this festival, the
renowned Raj family of Bastar organises
worship sessions in which the Goddess
Danteswari's ancient arms are treated as
divine elements.
