Reflection
(Minimum of 3-4 sentences per question)
1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology coaching and technology leadership from completing this field
experience?
Not a year has gone by in my 17 years of teaching, that I haven’t had inclusion students in my classes. Technology continues to changed the
way we teach. It has been an amazing experience to what the transition made with the use of technology in education. Assistive technology
today really provided equity in the classroom for students with disabilities. Working one on one with a student to help them experience the
wealth of possible assistive tech programs and extension is a highlight of my career. Taking time to identify so many awesome Chrome
extensions has made re rethink my teaching strategies in a normal school year. There are so many extensions I was unaware of, that all
student can benefit from and provide equal opportunities for all my students. Becoming aware of some of these extensions, I can better review
future students needs and introduce them to these extensions to make accessing my Biology content easier allowing them to participate fully in
the technology centered learning experiences I develop in the future.

2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must you be able to do) and dispositions (attitudes, beliefs,
enthusiasm) required of a technology facilitator or technology leader? (Refer to the standards you selected above. Use the language of the PSC
standards in your answer and reflect on all 3—knowledge, skills, and dispositions.)

Knowledge – I needed to use my knowledge about Chromebook to review essential Chrome extensions that are available to my students. I need
to look closer at the IEP’s for my student to identify what needs they have. I have high school students, and most learning disability are
address in lower grades. I need to familiarize my self with what has worked for them in the past and I need to know what they need to be
successful in my because success build confidence and that is something all struggling learners need.

Skills – Technology is the present and future for the rest of our lives. Computing devices aren’t going anywhere. They are improving
constantly. I need to stay up to date with the latest and great that technology has to offer for education. I need to continually research,
identify, and practice using technology so I know how to assist all learners in my class to guarantee success for all my students.

Dispositions – Assistive technology is a critical in supporting individual student learning needs. It is essential to pay close attention to the
needs of students but especially those with disabilities so to facilitate an equitable learning experienced for all students. All students face many
challenges in their academic careers. Those challenges are greater for those students with disabilities. As teachers, it is our job to make sure to
provide equitable access to all of our content material and design engaged learning experiences that are technology rich and accessible for all
students.

3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or student learning at your school. How can the impact be
assessed?
I think this is an area that goes with out saying and probably often neglected as we have student issued Chromebook, they increase the
opportunity for all students not just students with disabilities. I think it is sometimes assumed that once students with learning disabilities
reach high school their assistive technology needs don’t need to be address because they have school issued Chromebooks. I think faculty
development needs to continue. Teachers need to continue to address the learning environment based on the learners’ characteristics. It is
important to address this topic in PLC’s and discuss ways technology can enhance our curriculum using research-based criteria and lesson
design that promotes success for all students.
