Fiscal metering general calibration outlines

1. Preparation: Before starting the calibration process, ensure that you have all the necessary
equipment and tools, such as a master meter, a test bench, a calibration fluid, and measuring
instruments. Also, check the fiscal meter for any visible damage or faults.
2. Cleaning: Clean the fiscal meter thoroughly to remove any dirt or debris that could affect the
accuracy of the measurement.
3. Zero Adjustment: Set the fiscal meter to zero using the zero adjust knob or button. Make sure
that the meter reads zero with no flow through the meter.
4. Master Meter Verification: Verify the accuracy of the master meter using a certified standard.
The master meter will serve as the reference for the fiscal meter calibration.
5. Test Bench Setup: Set up the test bench and connect the fiscal meter and master meter. Make
sure that the test bench is properly configured and that the fiscal meter is installed according to
the manufacturer's instructions.
6. Calibration Fluid: Fill the test bench with the appropriate calibration fluid. The fluid should be of
a known viscosity and density, and its temperature should be within the specified range for the
fiscal meter.
7. Flow Calibration: Start the test bench and set the flow rate to a known value. Measure the flow
rate at the inlet and outlet of the fiscal meter using the master meter. Compare the readings of
the fiscal meter with those of the master meter. If there is a difference, adjust the fiscal meter
to match the readings of the master meter. Repeat the process at different flow rates.
8. Repeat Steps 6 and 7: Repeat steps 6 and 7 until the fiscal meter shows consistent and accurate
readings.
9. Final Verification: Once the calibration process is complete, verify the accuracy of the fiscal
meter one last time by repeating the flow calibration process at different flow rates.
10. Documentation: Document the results of the calibration, including the date, the name of the
technician, the master meter used, and any adjustments made to the fiscal meter.

These are the basic steps for calibrating a fiscal metering system. The exact procedure may vary slightly
depending on the type and model of the fiscal meter, so it is always best to consult the manufacturer's
instructions for specific details.
