We are pleased to announce that the Centre for Intellectual Property Rights and Technology Law
is reconstituting for the academic year 2020-2021. The Centre is recruiting to form two distinct
teams:
I. Research team
I. RESEARCH TEAM
1. This team would primarily be responsible for managing the content that will be published in
the Intellectual Property Rights and Technology law Journal. It reviews the submissions of IP &
Technology Journal.
3. This team is also responsible for research on various research projects such as GI and
Technology related projects.
1. For conducting the events and coordinating with university authorities for successful
completion of the events
2. Managing CIPR social media handles and all promotion related activities for various
initiatives.
(If they are good in any one of the above skills, they can apply for Technical team)
GENERAL TEAM
Based on the performance of newly recruited members, they would be taken into the general
team in which they will coordinate with both the Research and Technical team.
The applicants must attach their CV and Statement of Purpose(200 to 300 words) to the given
google form:
1) Preference of teams (They should select only one team i.e., Technical team or Research team)
2) Their set of skills which makes them eligible for a particular team
4) How the applicant plans to contribute/add value to the Centre this academic year.
ABOUT IPR
Intellectual Property (IP) is a creation of mind and it confers right to the creator by the law
towards the exclusive use of his creation. Though this right is granted for a certain period, the
exclusive nature of it makes it significant. In India IP law has undergone a significant change due
to TRIPS, which has a direct impact on legal regime pertains to patents, copyrights, designs,
trademarks, geographical indications etc. The existing IP laws were amended from time to time
to be on par with changes internationally. In recent years Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)
emerged as the most important policy instrument. With its growing presence, however, it has
also been subjected to intense criticism. Moreover, the structure of the institution itself has
undergone periodic changes with incorporations of newer subject matters into its ambit. It is the
endeavour of the C-IPR to become the beacon in the field of Intellectual Property Rights by
encouraging synthesis of knowledge and best practices cutting across academia, practitioners and
research fraternity.
ABOUT C-IPR
Intellectual Property Rights and their related laws is still a developing field in the country, but its
reach and importance simply cannot be ignored. Intellectual property now touches several types
of industries and businesses, ranging from pharmaceutical industry to start-up and even small-
time innovators. For promoting of research, extension and training in the field of intellectual
property rights, Centre for Intellectual Property Rights was established in the campus. This
Centre will incentivize innovative and cutting-edge academic research in the field of IP and
technology Laws, and conducting various training and extension activities for creating more
awareness in the field of IPR and Technology.
VISION:
To create a platform for creation, protection, analysis, valuation, licensing, education, policy
formulation in the field of IPR.
MISSION:
To provide effective research and policy inputs in the field of IPR.
OBJECTIVES OF THE C-IPR
To serve as a ‘think tank’ to provide policy inputs in IPR at national, regional and international
level.
To work on inter-disciplinary on IP involving multi stake holders.
To disseminate information on social, ethical, legal and economic aspects of IPR.
To engage in capacity building and providing inputs on IPR to policy makers including judiciary.
To support/assist Government of India in international negotiations before WTO and UN, WIPO.
FUNCTIONS
To undertake consultancy from various organizations.
To facilitate filing of patent application for inventions of teachers and researchers of all the
Universities in Andhra Pradesh and extends support to scientists, industrialists .and other
technical experts from outside in obtaining different forms of IP protection.
To undertake various research projects from Government, Industries and NGOS.
To publish books, research papers, working papers and monographs.
To organize various seminars, conferences and workshops on emerging issues on Intellectual
Property Law.
To conduct training programmes for judges, professionals, scientists, students of other
Universities in India on Intellectual Property Law.
To create knowledge resources in IPR.
To conduct extensive research on contemporary areas on IPR.
To conduct different types of academic programmes including full time Ph. D programmes,
LL.M programmes, certificate, PG diploma courses on IPR related issues.
VERTICALS OF C-IPR
(i)Training Centre on IP
It will act as the point of reference for knowledge building on IP protection and enforcement.
It raises awareness on IP among law enforcement officers about the economic impact of IP,
including its violations, in order to convince them to consider it as a priority area in their
strategic planning.
Provides Government officers (and their trainers) with a unique, user-friendly, one-stop platform.
Provides learning material relating to IPR enforcement.
(ii) IPR Cell

Preparation of Technology Transfer Agreements
Preparation of agreements for research collaboration
Opinion to the Universities on IPR issues
(iii) IPR Journal:
It is a peer review journal will publish articles on contemporary areas of IPR.
In this seminar, many issues related to Copyright and Replication, Copyright protection of
content in the website, Copyright relating to hyper linking , National and international
dimensions ,Legality framing under copyright law , Copyright protection of multimedia works ,
Copyright management in digital era Legal protection against circumvention of technological
measures ,Liability of Internet Service Providers (ISPs) for copyright infringement have been
analyzed
1ST NATIONAL DSNLU IPR QUIZ COMPETITION
In the fond memory of former President of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, DSNLU National Quiz
competition was organ ised by the Centre for Intellectual property Rights (CIPR). The
competition was attended by various universities. Prof. Dr. M Padmavathi Rajeev Gandhi School
of Intellectual Property Law, IIT Kharagpur was the Chief Guest for the inaugural session of the
quiz competition. Sastra University, Chennai and Novel academy IPR stood as winners and
runners respectively for this competition
The seminar was organized by India's patent’s Office in collaboration with the World Intellectual
Property Organization (WIPO) and ASSOCHAM to highlight the importance and benefits of
WIPO global Intellectual Property servicers for Indian innovators. DL Rajesh Dixit, Deputy
Controller of Patents & Design and M.Abidine, Head PCT operation section, WIPO participated
in this event
Centre also organized Second edition of APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial National IPR Quiz
Competition. Over 25 law schools, including NLSIU, HNLU, OP Jindal law school and other
reputed universities participated in this competition. The winner of this competition was Sri
Padmavati Mahila Visvvidyalayam and runner was NLSIU, Banglore
This event was first of its kind held on climate change by a National Law University where
students was allotted countries to represent and discuss the global impact of climate change and
come up with possible solutions that through debate, consultation and amicable coordination for
global cooperation.
INTERNATIONAL WEBINAR ON CHALLENGES TO LAW AND
TECHNOLOGY IN THE 21ST CENTURY
This seminar has laid emphasis on advancements in the technology and challenges of
technology. Prof Dr. Ghayur Alam (MHRD chair), Dr. Prashant Mali (President of cyber law
consulting agency) and Dr. Subhajit Basu (Chair of British law education and technology
association) were the speakers of the event.
This Journal of Intellectual Property Rights is a peer-reviewed annually published journal. The
journal published contemporary aspects of Intellectual Property Rights in India and across the
Globe. It received papers from various reputed universities in India and across the globe. Some
of them are Queen’s Mary university of London, New York University, Rajiv Gandhi school of
intellectual property law (IIT Kharagpur), HNLU, RMLNLU and many other reputed
universities. Many dignitaries like Prof. (Dr.) V.C. Vivekanandan, Vice Chancellor, HNLU,
Raipur, Prof. (Dr.) Irene Calboli, Professor of Law Texas A &M University were part of editorial
board. Apart from these events, Centre for Intellectual Property Rights and Technology
organized many Intra events which enhanced the students thirst of knowledge. We are also
planning to organize various research projects such as Book on Contemporary IP and technology
issues, GI tags for various products etc
